MacKenzie are three sisters and William Jackson accompanies them musically. I started off listening to mainly Scottish folk music early in life, but have listened to wider fields, hence the Danish choirs and dreamers circus over time. This is a lament like a lot of gaelic songs seem to be. Well they are either a party or a lament it seems with no middle ground. The three sisters come from the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, and gaelic would be their first language in all likelihood. The 3 sisters are Eilidh, Gillian and Fiona. It is a traditional song, a lament lullaby, dating from the 1570 death of the chief of the MacGregor clan, and it actually dates from that time. There is actually an Irish version of Gaelic and a Scottish, different words, pronounciations, etc.
