Yes! Finally a proper monitor review. Not talking about specs for 15 mins, that you can easily research yourself. True and fair audio comparison, like this, is the only way you can make a purchase decision by watching a video only. Well done, and thanks a lot! Please make more!

For a monitor, its a win for Yamaha, but for listening and actually enjoying music its clearly the CR5-X, as the flat and almost completely bass-less sound of the HS5 is anything, but fun.
@mdjey23 жыл бұрын
From my experience Yamaha does have pretty decent bass. High frequencies might be harsh if you don't treat your room. It also has switches for things like high trim, mid eq. I haven't heard Mackies.

great. Am listening this in mackie cr5 and yamaha hs5 only. I connected both.😆😄

Mackies all the way. So much more full sound. I have actually owned both of these speakers and the Mackies won hands down IRL, just as they do in this video.
@GigaChadL3373 жыл бұрын
because that is the sound what most ppl enjoy, but for mixing and mastering that is not accurate
@tomnanD33 жыл бұрын
Now THIS is the way to compare speakers. I listened carefully through my good Sony buds. I think the Yamahas might be more open and accurate. The bass in the Mackies seemed overly boomy to me.
@SKeyreaper4 жыл бұрын
Mackie CR5-X has better low-end extension. You're actually able to hear the bass player in "Jazz Con Cajon". It's completely gone in the Yamahas. Same story for the rest of the songs that use that lower range. Closer to reference track by easily.
@sorinoprea53652 жыл бұрын
The first reason I chose Mackie is one touch on/off and volume button in front, the second is the end low and the third one is price. In my subjective opinion Mackie is the winner.

such a great channel!! big mahalo! i'm trying to decide whether or not to just get a speaker with bluetooth or get a bluetooth receiver and get any speaker of choice!! this is mostly for listening...but can serve as a second pair of mixing monitors if needed... to my ears the HS5 never sound like the source in these tests. they fail to match/recreate levels most of all, especially on the bass end....the CR5-X seem closer overall, minus the hyped bass in spots...but these are my blown out ears! ;-) again appreciate the channel!!

Yamaha so clean, clear and bright just what I am looking for in my room. And Mackie is n strong smooth heavy hitter!
Por fin una comparativa que va al grano. Muchas gracias

Clear bass boost from the mackie's but I don't mind that especially for the price comparison. If you're only mixing through one set of speakers and nothing else that's a problem in itself anyways.

Also true story. Just taped up the ports on the back of my mackie's and that cut the bass off ;)

Do people know that they are actually listening to their own speakers? This might be a good reference video, but keep in mind that you're always listening to your own speakers. You have to listen to actual voices in person, not through online reviews.

So basically, one Yamaha speaker costs double the amount of pair of Mackies, and they sound almost the same (a little bit clearer high tones for Yamaha)? Am I wrong?
@carlosnunez18034 ай бұрын

I'd say Ymaha's highs are a bit too flat - more flat than the original audio (which is kinda disappointing) on the other side Mackie has a lot of bass, but even more that the original audio. Still, I think Mackie outputs more desirable sounds for common user (that's what I'd choose) but Yamaha would probably work better for a professional use.

I just bought the Makies but I really like the mids and high’s accuracy on the Yamaha s . They need a sub for sure . The Makies are smooth for sure . The highs aren’t as separate, bright and crisp. They are pretty balanced I think. Mackies seem muddy on the mid to highs . I bought them because of a sale price and impulse. They will be good for me . I produced live music videos and have my music mixed by someone else . I need reference and to check how he did mixing.

Hello stereopony digital master, how are you? I have a question that can be a doubt of many people. I am not a music producer, nor do I work with mixing and mastering. I want to buy a JBL 305p, but I did NOT want to use an audio interface. If I connect with a double XRL or TRS cable to a p2 and plug it directly into the computer do I have any kind of loss? Whether in quality, volume, etc ... If not, there would be some other way without using this expensive equipment as an audio interface, because in Brazil these interfaces are very expensive. PLEASE, HELP ME!!
@GregorMima4 жыл бұрын
you should try eris 4.5 or get adams t5v, they both have RCA in, and dont need an extra interface (tho i would recommend some 100USD DAC, check out SMSL or Topping)
@att13064 жыл бұрын
@@GregorMima Yes, apparently I will have to appeal to monitors with an RCA connection. Which is sad because the sound quality of the Eris Presonus 5 is far superior. Thank you friend.

@@att1306 Keep in mind the differnce between XLR and RCA is very minimal if even noticeable. XLR is usefull only for difficult long distances. Keep your RCA cables away from power cables / phone chargers and you´ll be fine.

A 6.5mm to rca adapter costs about 0.40€ here. No reason to opt for the inferior competition such as adam or mackie.

@@john2335 XLR and RCA are compete different signal levels. XLR is 4V RCA are 2V max. With dedicated RCA inputs there are internal circuits dealing with lower input.. And I'm not even starting on the differential input problem. But it's up to you.

Kind of a strange comparison. The HS5's are just in another league. The CR5's could be okay for gaming or casual music listening, but they're useless for critical music listening.

@qmaloney3 жыл бұрын
It’s a bit of an odd comparison really as the HS5’s should be combined with the HS8 subwoofer. This combination is ideal as the HS5 high and mid range clarity is matched with the HS8-S superb reference low range. If you want bass from the Yamaha range without a sub go with HS7 or HS8 but this still isn’t as good as HS5+HS8 combo IMO. Unless your in a big room HS7/HS8 + sub is overkill. For me the Mackie is a great DJ / Playback Monitor and the Yams a true home production/mixing tool.

don't buy mackie , bass heavy, muddy. Your ears get tired very quick. I have to turn volume down all the time. Big regret here. using FIIO DAC 32 bit /192 (knowingli crisp and sharp, yet with this speaker sound is muddy) mid is missing and low is muddy high is weak
