Nice review. I've been playing with the MobileMix for a few weeks now, and one thing I didn't take into account is that there are no panning controls on it. So if I'm recording vocals into channel one and acoustic guitar into channel two, there is no way to separate those tracks for recording purposes. If you're streaming or playing live into a single PA speaker, this is not an issue of course, but every other mixer I have ever owned has panning controls, and so this was unexpected. Also, for those wondering, you can indeed hook the power bank to the USB-C connector on the rear of the unit (instead of the one inside). This comes in handy if your power bank has multiple inputs, and you want to use it to power some effects pedals. I have the same ASPERX power bank shown in the video, and I can power the mixer, an acoustic preamp pedal, and a looper pedal all from the power bank with no issues.

Thanks for the comment Isaac. Yeah, that's a great point, I don't mention the missing pan in this review. For me, when I see these small/portable audio mixers, I assume they're going to be missing things like panning. Like you said, not a big deal for busking with a single speaker etc. If there is a reason that you aren't carrying around something at least as big as a ProFX10v3 or MG10XU, then I think it's safe to say that you're not going for a full stereo mix. Same goes for the two band EQ, you just can't have everything when you want portability. I was going to have a section in this video about the compromises of small/portable audio mixers, but it got dropped because the video was already quite long.

@@kettnercreative For a long time I was looking for a small analog mixer with the connections on the back. Nice and clean. I think this is the only mixer but unfortunately, the missing pan option is a real dealbreaker for me. I will return the mixer, but I'm not sure what will be a goof alternative.

wait, so this means even if its channel 1 and 2 separate, in a DAW there's no way of separating those into different channels? It sums up the mix to a mono signal or stereo signal?

I was reading in the manual and it states that you can leave to battery in the unit and charge the battery from the external usbc port. I imagine you would have to get a very short usbc to usbc cable and hook up the battery in the compartment using the usbc port on the battery. (This port will be able to be used both for powering out and for charging.) If this was the case you could leave the battery in the compartment permanently. I have been playing around with this mixer for a few days , and I love it. Good job Mackie.

Why do you think a USB input and output were left out? This addition would be great for connecting directly to a Mac or phone.

It is good Mackie didn’t lock in a battery in this portable mixer. Otherwise it would have become one more disposable electronic gadget. Kudos Mackie !!! for the flexibility and durability

Okay long one but need help!! Okay so long story short I run some large volleyball tournaments and we like to create quite the environment for our games being held on center court and I’m being asked to ramp that up and make it even better on top of being asked to replicate that for some programs indoor gyms for games. What I need is rather quite simple in theory but I’m finding it difficult to find the right piece of equipment to handle it or maybe that’s because I need two pieces of equipment but I’m to naive to know. I need to have two sound devices (iPhone/ laptop/ iPad) plugged in and playing on their own channels and being able to bring them in or out as desired. Two mic inputs on their own channels to be able to bring in or out as needed. Now all of that so far sounds pretty easy with your standard mixer the part I’m having trouble with is I need to be able to have the ability to route a monitor mix to a pair of headphones. Essentially I will have one iPad hooked up and running a sound board of sound effects. I will have a computer or a phone hooked up just running a playlist of music. I need to be able to hear the playlist of music non stop in my headphones so that I can skip forward or slow down so when I bring music up over the main mix going to the house speakers I know it’s the right portion of song I want. Hope that makes sense and excuse my layman terms

Great review! One feature I would like to know more about is the 2 way bt on ch 7/8. I'm planning to buy one, but was hoping to be able to send the mix of any channels via bt to my Mackie Thump Go speakers. I will be using it for wedding ceremonies, where there could be 2 or 3 microphones, a musician & a soloist. Is that possible?

Not sure the Bluetooth is goes in both directions, it states on the box it can receive music from one device while recording via the mobile in/out connector - I had it less than a couple hours and the Bluetooth cut connection multiple times and now the Bluetooth doesn’t function at all - sending back tomorrow. Very disappointed over all.

Do 5&6 HAVE to connect via trrs or can they be used with just a stereo 3.5 trs as two addl inputs?

Why use a trs to a xlr instead of just a 1/4 in cable from the mixer to the speaker?

So, I have a Shure SM7B and a GoXLR Mini. I want to upgrade from my GoXLR Mini. Should I buy the Scarlett 2i2 4th generation or GoXLR? Its for Streaming
@kettnercreative8 ай бұрын
If you're streaming, I would recommend moving towards Elgato, Rode, or Mackie. For Elgato, the WaveXLR + StreamDeck+ is a really good combination. For Rode, the Rodecaster Duo is fantastic For Mackie, the DLZ Creator XS is insane as well. If price is an issue, you can start with the Wave XLR and slowly built up the Elgato gear, their platform is a lot more modular. IMO, the GoXLR is long past it's prime. It seems like the development has largely been abandoned. It was revolutionary, but all of the other companies have created better products at this point.

I searched around looking for more info on this thing because I can’t believe it doesn’t have any usb interface capabilities. I guess if your computer has a trrs you could go straight in, but then you don’t get asio.

I didn’t realize that when I purchased it. Had it going a couple hours, the BT is very unreliable, soon at I got it going with some music it disconnected. Then at one point the BT and FX stopped functioning at all. Sending back in the morning, stick with the proFX 6v3 with a battery pack for my ceremony set up

You mentioned you can you power your proFX 6v3 from a battery pack. Would that just be a standard USB battery pack? I looked at it, but the power plug on the back is confusing to me. Do you use a special converter lead, or is it powered by the USB port? Cheers!
