'Those light wind days that has flat water that is buttery smooth'. Exactly, I love those sessions. Not to mention those are the days where the weather is beautiful. Being out on the water is the perfect way to send time on those summer days. I'm upgrading my 15m liquid force NV for the 17m Aluula flight. TY Rygo for all of the informative content.

One of your better videos. The differences in our sport are significant-- flying a 15m+ on a lightwind kite day vs a 7m or even 9m, almost like a completely different sport. I'm in the minority for sure but I cherish those sunny 10-12 knot 80 degree lightwind days in MI. Like you said, when trying new stuff its really nice to slow things down. Great points. I found them spot on. I'd add this- if you haven't found a lw kite you like, keep trying. It took me 5-6 different brands until i landed on a 15m Contra which IMO was the best for me

Glad to hear you're enjoying kitesurfing with your 7m and 9m kites! 🤙🏽 It's great to have a range of kite sizes to choose from, depending on the conditions. Using a smaller kite can be a lot of fun, as it often allows for more maneuverability and can help you get more height on jumps. But having a larger kite on hand for lighter wind days or emergency situations can also be important. Ultimately, it's all about finding the right balance for your style and the conditions you're riding in. Good winds to you, my friend. -Aaron

Nice review, I watched it about a week ago. I was on the fence with a purchase of kite and bar & lines. I purchased 2023 Ocean Rodeo 14.5 5S with bar from Mackite, I was sent 2022 ocean rodeo flite with no bar. I have been watching your videos for a few years now and enjoying them . This was my first purchase from Mackite. I don’t know what to think.

Mitchell, apologies for the order mess up. Your bar is coming directly from Ocean Rodeo. I will email you about getting the kite sorted. Cheers! - Cado

I have a 2015 Turbine 15m - and it's one of the main reasons i got a hydrofoil. So much more fun to be flying a 9m on a foil than that 15m. But i recently tried a 15m XR and was blown away by how responsive it was. Can't wait to try Aluula or SLS.

That Aluula flight handles like a several sizes smaller but it loops like it's size. lol. Makes big kite riding not suck so much. Because it's lighter it stays close to the wind window and doesn't drag you down wind in gusts. I would like to see gen 2 Aluula. Maybe they can make a 10M 3 strut high aspect that handles like a 8 Meter...

Similar comment on Cajun, have a 10 (ozone Enduro) and 12 (airrush ultra) but would love a big kite for those light wind days when the water is flat. Have you tested the Ozone zephyr? 155lb Rider trying to figure out a light wind kite to twin tip with to for jumping and learning more tricks

I have not had a chance to. At 155 you are in luck. Most 15m kites will be awesome for you. It’s actually the largest you would need from most light wind specific kites. - Rygo

@@MACkiteboarding thanks Rygo. I've been trying to follow along with your review series but couldn't tell for a focus on twintip but any recommendations on a 15m? I'm 1 year into riding and focusing on hooked tricks and jumping. Appreciate the help!

@@davidfischerxx There are many good options but the one that I've had the best luck so far is the OR FLITE 14.5m you can get it in the original construction (D for Dacron) cheap and FUNctional or step up for the Aluula for even more performance and higher cost of course... TRY before you BUY whenever possible, IMHO lots of the negative opinions given at the beach are correct from the perspective of a 15-20 year vet because those kite USED to be less good, but try them now / again - I have some super FUN and MEMORABLE sessions on my bigger kites - Why NOT try? Good WINDS 2U...

Just got into kiteboarding and I’ve been using a nexus 17m. Definitely loving it! Teaching myself and appreciate the forgiveness. The wind is light where I am (10-18mph) and I’m 190lbs so I think the 144 Choice 3 TT and 17m are a great combo for the time being. When the wind is just touching 10-12mph I use a surfboard. Waiting for some 20mph plus to get my 12m up in the air. What are thoughts about this setup (17m and 144) in regard to sizing and wind speeds (10-18mph), along with wanting to progress? Should I be using a smaller kite? Thank you 🙏

A 17m with a 144 should be a great combo. I've actually weighed 190 most of this season and the 17 was a life saver in similar conditions. Some people do not like big kites but they make all the difference. I don't know your style but you can do kite loop based tricks like hand drags or dark slides, you can do decent enough freestyle so really its the perfect trailing tool. The only downside is the big air element is not there if that is your jam. That said, you can practice all the same moves albeit not as high so I think its a smart call.

You made the video at the perfect time 👍. I’m fairly new to the sport, I have 12m at the moment but looking for a light wind kite. Not sure what would be a good size... 15, 17, etc. 195-200 lb rider. In your opinion, what would be a good size to continue the learning process. Thanks 👍👍 Happy New Year

I'm a 220 lb rider and my most frequent rides are Slingshot Turbine 17m in 13mph to 19mph and a Slingshot RPM 14m in 20mph to 29mph. 30+mph calls for stepping down to 12 or 10 depending on gust conditions.

Hey Rygo! Which 15m kite would you prefer for lightwind freeride on twintip? The Slingshot Turbine or the Ghost? I’m really looking forward to your experience on these kites! Thx in advance!
@MACkiteboarding
@MACkiteboarding 3 жыл бұрын
That’s tough. There are things I like about each and things I dislike. The Turbine has more low end but gets overpowered quickly. The ghost is fun but not super powerful. It’s more playful. If you want to push light wind, the turbine will get you further along but it does feel like a big kite. Meaning heavier and not super responsive. It boost insane however and is mental as far as stability provided you don’t get overpowered. The Ghost is more responsive, I have friends who prefer it for freestyle if that helps you at all. It feels more like a foil kite to me than a true light wind kite. I used that more with my surfboard in light wind and messy waves. A little on a twin but personally I chose the turbine more often. Actually this question inspired me to do a video on this. Just filmed it. 🤟🏻 - Rygo

You wouldn’t have all that bad experiences with light wind kites had you have tried Ozone Edge. I’ve owned 19 m2 for 3 years and it works like a charm. Looping it, it’s fast and reactive, generates loads of power and is easy to depower when wind picks up and other riders come out with their 14s and 15s...

I often struggle landing jumps on my bigger kites - watched Blake jump (5:42) and he was redirecting the kite almost immediately, he also sheated out and then sheated back in about when you would recertification a smaller kite. I need to try that. I wonder if he's even aware he's doing it?
