Bruh that and the 'can't believe what I've become, swore I was gonna be someone and growing up everyone always does' bit are the most relatable to me. I'm not even an addict but I can relate so much to this and starting over. I've been listening on and off since Thrift Shop which came out when I was in Grade 6 (end of Primary, or Elementary school where I'm from), but I never knew Macklemore had these songs. In a way though I'm glad I'm hearing them now, as had I heard them when I was 12 and 13 I probably wouldn't have understood half of them like I do now.

It's about understanding it happens to people of all shapes and sizes, backgrounds, financial status, mental strength, religious background, community standing, family life, etc. I have friends and family that have gone through what he sings about.
