This video is about Canon 5DS-R Connection & Tethering Problems Fixed.
OK, here's what was happening:
When we tried to connect our Canon 5DS-R to our iMac 27" OS Catalina 10.15 we got Nothin!
No pop up, nothing opened in finder or preview, Nada!
We also are not getting out meta-data (ISO, Shutter Speed etc) attached with each picture
Then we went to Canons website and looked for software specifically for the new EOS 5DS R USB3.0 setup on the camera body, we found Nothing.
So then we called Canon support who, btw were SO friendly and helpful (not a sponsor fyi) just the truth, they literally sat on the phone with us for 20 minutes.
We finally fixed the 5DSR Connectiuon by USB and the tethering issue for screen casting and downloading the meta data like ISO, shutter speed, F-stop etc with each picture. We also found out you can control the camera in a whole bunch of different ways and we learned how to use Canons Image Capture and Canon Utilities.
How did we fix it you ask?
Well here's how, It's probably easier if you just watch the video but for you readers...
We made you some easy to follow steps to fix the usb connection issues between your iMac Catalina OS X software and your Canon EOS 5DS-R camera body using USB 3.0 connection.
Step 1) Go to Cannon USA website
www.usa.canon....
Step 2) Select your camera
Step 3) Select Mohave 10.14 under "Drivers and Downloads" - Operating Systems
Step 4) Download "EOS Utility 3.11" pdisp01.c-wss.c...
Step 5) Run Install program on your iMac. Your system will block the download. Don't Cry.
Step 6) Open "Preferences" then type in "Gatekeeper"
Step 7) It will show you the download/install package that was just blocked, Click "Open Anyway"
Step 8) Run the install, register etc...
Step 9) Power Camera OFF - Plug in EOS 5DSR with USB 3.0 to computer.
Step 10) Power Camera ON
Step 11) The EOS Utility 3 will pop up and allow you to download pictures, tether, control the camera, and use your iMac, or MacBook as a monitor or second screen.
Ok so that's pretty much it to solving the connection issues with the new OS Catalina and the EOS Utility for Canons amazing 50mp EOS 5DS R
I hope this was helpful, if you have additional questions please comment below and I can help you out or contact Canon support by phone directly they were super thorough about this but it is not covered anywhere else on the internet.
Just on a side note about this:
My original issue was I was not getting picture data or metadata like f-stop, iso, shutter speed, and other data when I uploaded my pictures directly from my CF or SD cards. Adobe Lightroom users have a preference inside Light Room to do this but iMac Preview does not, neither does Pixelmator so I just had to make it my mission to help you all out.
Anyways keep taking awesome photos and having fun,
Enjoy Life
Cheers!
