I do exactly as you do get a couple of shots early then that will give me motivation for the day.

I really enjoyed! Being tired of the cold and dark, you've made me think about getting out to me local beach and shooting.

Hey Andrew, recently found your channel after being loaned a macro lens for a few months. Just wanted to say the content you provide is top notch. Love the narration, exploration, and images you produce. Once my wireless trigger and flash arrive I'll be following along with your splash blueberry tutorial. Cheers. -New subscriber

Many thanks for this vlog, Andrew! I found this vid by chance, and watched with interest. I live in the northwest of Tasmania right on the Bass Strait separating Tassie from southeast Australian mainland. I walk to the beach 5/6 days a week for exercise with my 40mm lens on a mirrorless camera body (for lightness). I take lots of closeups at low tide. Sometimes I take the macro lens. Your vid inspires me to carry the tripod and macro from time to time, and see what I can produce! The entire 360 deg. shore line of Tassie has fascinating beach and shoreline patterns and colours. Thanks for the inspiration!

Having spent a very unpleasant two hours this morning trudging over photographically boring arable fields in Essex, getting tangled in brambles, clarted in thick mud and getting no decent shots, I found your vid very inspiring. I shall take a drive to the beach this week or maybe the Thames foreshore. Cheers 🙂

Peter, your struggle is real and I know all photographers watching this will understand! Just remember that spring is round the corner and maybe then we'll be able to explore in some better conditions!

Good video. I liked the sandstone images but my fav is the shell in the sand ripples

oh well done Andrew. For a while there you reminded me of me, first getting cut off by the incoming tide and then soaking my feet having to step through freezing water and further giving comment to it by the use of colourful metaphor. Thank you for your you tube vids, they are both informative and entertaining.

Thanks so much Joe, glad I’m not the only idiot getting cut off by the tide and spending the rest of the day with wet shoes!!

Cool post and pics, Andrew! Admire your grit to walk the beach in winter. (Title alternative - Getting Your Feet Wet With Macro at the Beach😁). Kidding aside, I’d likely forego the Zen and quickly pick up a few promising specimens for shooting macro back indoors under controlled conditions, while sipping a hot beverage. Glowing shell pic something special - gives me an idea of how to illuminate a shell indoors (maybe via LED inside out). Ever do something similar? Learned that starfish indoors tend to go brittle quickly. Cheers!

Thanks Paul! Definitely could have made more of a thing of my soaking wet boots. Terrible form on my part! Good idea in taking things back to studio. Definitely a possibility there!

Hi Andrew another really good and entertaining video. The one thing I did was to put a small strip of fluorescent tape round each of the tripod legs, it works well in dark woods also. I learnt the hard way. Best wishes Andy👍

Andrew, can I ask what lens you use for macro?
@zihanaw40932 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, thank you for the amazing tips and video! I have a question about looking after you gears after going to the ocean. I have heard horror stories of lenses and camera bodies becoming rusted and/or damaged due to the salty sea air. How worried should we be after taking your camera out to the beach? Is there a method to prevent salt water damage?
@AndrewLanxonPhotography2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching! That’s a very good point and not really one that I’ve considered all that much, and it’s not something I’m overly worried about as long as I’m careful. If your camera is weather-sealed then any saltiness just in the air around you should not be a problem, as long as you’re careful about changing batteries or lenses - just as you would be if it’s raining. Sand and water can be bad for tripod legs, so it’s worth taking your tripod apart and giving it a clean to make sure that it lasts a long time. I hope that helps!

Do people ever get trapped out there with no help and washed out to sea? I don't live near an ocean so it's a very different experience to me.
@AndrewLanxonPhotography2 жыл бұрын
I think possibly yes. There's an island nearby that you can only walk to at low tide and people get stranded there sometimes. I think it's on my list for a future video!

Hello. maybe I would like a tripod like yours, only yours is made of carbon and costs a fortune. Is there an aluminum tripod that is similar to yours? That is, to be able to descend very low and to be able to place the camera with the objective down. Something in $ 250 or $ 200. Multumesc
