It is NO WONDER why you have SO MANY subscribers (now including me) - your presentations are very clear, no nonsense, no unnecessary/loud/distracting music, very well scripted, with all props readily at hand! ALL creators of tutorials should follow your lead. I just want to be able to photograph the edges of kinives as they go through the stages of gthe sharpening process, and you've presented a clear, simple, inexpensive way to do that, with my camera's cousin. THANK YOU! PS - did you know that Canon now charges for customer service assistance? BOO!!!

Best wishes for getting that macro lens. Just give up beer and cigarettes for a few weeks, and you should be able to afford it. hehe. Great illustration of how an extension tube works. I prefer the tubes over the lenses that screw onto the front of the lens. I have a macro rail slider (probably 5 years), but I've not used it yet. Do you ever use mirror lockup, or do you not think it makes enough difference? The Nikon has a cool LCD display. I like how it has a graphic to represent the aperture. Another great video. Thanks!

Thanks once again for your continued support. Mirror lock up is a great idea but is one of the reasons why I used Live View extensively in this video. When Live View is turned on the mirror is locked up - so no worries about shake.

I bought closeup filters recently and they are just as fun to use... (the whole lot, +1 +2 +4 +10), but I want to know how they compare to extension tubes. I couldn't find some for my Nikon hence I went for the filters. Do you think I should still consider getting the tubes?

This is such an informative video! I first tried out extention tubes when I started doing snowflake photography. That didn't work out well. I just couldn't get the focus right. Very frustrating! So I splurged on a dedicated macro lens, the Sigma 105mm F2.8 Ex DG OS for my Canon. It's an amazing lens! The only thing I need to do now is get a faster camera than my old Canon Rebel SL1, and I honestly don't know which one to purchase. It's fine for my regular photography but definitely not fast enough to capture crisp shots of snowflakes. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you for sharing your passion and amazing photography tips with us. Cheers from Canada 😊

Thanks for watching Claire, I would suggest looking at a Canon EOS 90D which is a cropped sensor DSLR, the alternative being a mirrorless camera which of course is the future.
