Hi Thomas, thank you so much for your videos. I live in South Africa, I'm familiar with those mites on the millipede. They are a parasitic species that lives exclusively on millipedes, and are immune to it's cyanide rich blood. They have tiny weevil like proboscis that pierce the gaps between body parts, and slowly suck it dry. Gorgeous shots, thanks for your amazing work!

It makes me so happy when i see others like this revealing just a little sliver of beauty, wonder and marvelI in our bugs. Because i am not setup to do it myself, i feel a little redeemed when others do. I live in Costa Rica and i casually witness so much on a regular basis in the spider world as well as the obvious gorgeous moths, beetles etc. But something that can get overlooked here is the really tiny insects with their weirdo shapes and behaviors. I hope someday i can capture some of the stuff and share it with you. Thanks for sharing

Wonderful to see not just the macro photography, but to see that you cared enough to share a brief introduction to Mozambique, its history and its natural history. That is special! At the 7:03 mark we get a brief glimpse of your setup. As a wildlife photographer who is very interested in macro photography, I would love to know how you were setting up your diffuser. I think I saw a Gorilla pod on the far side, but couldn't tell how it was fixed and what it was holding. My wife gifted me a Laowa twin-macro flash setup for Christmas, after I saw you review it and told her I'd like one :) . So I'm pretty keen to know how you organized your setup. Thank you for sharing your passion. Greetings from India!

That was so cool! Mimic insects are some of my favorite. Probably my most favorite picture I've ever taken was of a hover fly on a dandelion in my backyard. The width of the flower was greater than the frame size and the details on the fly were razor sharp. Those super closeup shots of the jumping spiders are so much better though... You have inspired me.

This brings back so many memories. My dad worked for about 5 years in Beira's harbour to rebuild the infrastructure and basically get the harbour "working" again towards the end of the civil war. (we're from The Netherlands) As a result, I (together with my mom, brother and sister) spent about 1 1/2 years (combined) "living" there as well, as well as spending quite some time in Zimbabwe. I was ~8 years old when we first went there. I'll never forget it. Amazing countries, with amazing people, flora and fauna.

I wonder if when photographing salticids, did you ever have one jump on and off of your lens as if defending territory from the reflection? I had an adult Phidippus audax do this from a rock it was perched on. It did this several times.
