I made a comparison to a family member that hates spiders that spiders are like the cats of the insect world, catching things we don't want and getting rid of them (I know they are arachnids and "arthopod world" would be more correct but I am the only one in my family who would understand "arthropod". )

I watched another review and these lenses looked like bunk. I watch yours, and they look amazing as everything else you show. Truly takes skilled hands.

Gawd I LOVE spiders. I've had a few. I'm currently on a black window wait-list.

Wow! This video was a real pleasure. I was contemplating this lens for my Fuji system and stumbled across it. Fantastic images and a beautiful calm delivery, a tonic to so much of the nonsense on KZbin. Thank you!

I've had this lens for a while and haven't really used it. Was looking at a cheap alternative to a really expensive Laowa macro probe lens. But this looks like it can work for what I have in mind. I also like the way paced your video and explained things. Easy to follow, which encourages someone looking to get into macro photography to stick around to learn from you. Well done.

2:46 "average person eats 3 spiders a year” factoid actualy just statistical error. average person eats 0 spiders per year. Spiders Georg, who lives in cave & eats over 10,000 each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

I used to be very arachnaphobic but forcing myself to be near them helped ease the fear. I would get close to a web and just watch the spider do its thing. Fascinating creatures. I still can't deal with spiders larger than a half dollar but now I welcome them in my backyard and garage because they mind their business and keep mosquito levels down.

Thanks Thomas for this great video - I've been wondering about getting this lens set for springtail and mite photography in the field, so it's really helpful to see how you got on with the x10 and how thin the focal plane is! Would you say it's at all field-friendly, or really only suited to a mounted, controlled setup like you used for that absolutely stunning tardigrade footage? Thanks, Frank :)

I have handled a False Widow Spider back in the UK and a House Spider which is considered the biggest spider species in the UK. Spiders are generally not going to hurt you unless they feel threatened. They are just like dogs really, you can interact with dogs but if you try and hurt the dog then it is likely to bite you. Same with spiders.

So, I have a mild to moderate phobia of spiders. Mostly through ignorance and having been bitten by a brown recluse in my younger life. I get the heebie jeebies when I see them, even when it’s videos and photos almost 90% of the time. It has to be an extraordinarily beautiful or unique looking spider to have my interest outweigh my fear. That being said, I saw one of these today at work and used my bug recognition feature to find a Wikipedia page about these little guys and a few more links that eventually lead me here. They way you explain about these guys and your calm nature really helped my anxiety while watching, which allowed me to calmly examine the photos that you took of them and truly soak in just how intricate and cool they are. I’ve always had a little more comfort with jumping spiders anyway because of the funny quick way they hop around. This video and your demeanor were great though. Sorry that was so long winded.

Great video thank you. Do you feel like a focusing rail is necessary with this lens? I have read where many seem to think it is but that seems difficult (if not impossible) to pull that off insects. Thank you.
