In fairness to the developers, there's only a couple dozen of them and a million players, so the million players have more capacity to find edge cases. They'll fix it.

A niche case like whether or not Mendeln scales with a Minion Necro is something that gets lost in the sauce compared to bigger issues.

Bro I'm exactly the same part....in wt3 doing pit 50s and feeling a halt. It's doable but it's slower than I remember but couldn't figure out why....I thought it was my glyph not leveled.

Finally got a Mendeln yesterday after crushing with minions in T3 and instantly felt like my damage dropped off. Was really confused because I didn't think it should be possible so I kept using it. So glad you put this out which confirms my results. I'll just go back to my Vehement Brawler ring until they (hopefully) fix this.

My Eternal Realm Mendeln Necro went from clearing T96 during S6 to high T80's since S7 launch and that's after adding some sweet Blood Moon Breaches which are also bugged. If you masterwork onto Hellbent Commander, they steal a rank from you. Super disappointing.

thx mac. been a fan since i ran your fohdin for d2r ladder way back in 2022. i did a windy druid then fohdin and completed my life's goals in d2 on a single character (one char solo anni, solo pal torch, solo shako). keep it up man your analysis on d4 is crazy how has blizzard not hired you to the balance team at this point? outside bugged interactions, balancing should be known prior to release as opposed to the alleged "we tweaked the numbers cant wait to see what happens" approach that it is currently ....

I realized something wasn’t right when I went from WT2- WT3. Legit took me like 3 -4 mins in WT2 pit to like 10 plus minutes in WT3 pit and a few deaths. I was getting pissed. I switched over to blood wave, but I want my minions back! 😢

That the issue is only with aspects that specifically scale minions instead of you tells me that something in that very specific part of the code got missed or bugged. Simple as that. Its very easy for something like that to fly under the radar.

as someone that doesn't rush, this is great info. I love minions but I haven't been able to push with them well from season 4 on. I started my gearing for shadow wave, guess I'll keep working on that and not push until I get that done. At least we have the armory if it get fixed mid season.

It's genuinely heartbreaking. Looking at everything else in this season, minions should be top of the A-tier in so many regards. The fact that we're bottom of B tells you something, and now it makes sense as to why we're underperforming. I sincerely hope Blizzard fixes this asap, having that I already am wearing most of my BiS gear ( admittedly not all at 800iLevel), I shouldn't be struggling in T3.

I have grandfather with 510% dmg most of my gear is ++ greater affixes with gear that rolled +5 to skeleton mages and warriors. I have so many multipliers andi hit for milions i cleared 90 pit but it was so slow. I'm kinda mad that i have like 2800% crit dmg and i do not dmg :D I was so hyped about minions and i farmed gear like crazy just to see that build i want to play is broken because of one ring xD

Blizzard needs to pull it together- this is ridiculous. I feel like every time I find a build to work towards that I’m interested in, I find one of your videos telling me it’s bugged and broken in a way that makes it unable to perform properly. I have zero interest in blood wave after I tried it last season. The gear thresholds and mechanics made it too much ti desk with (for me). I was pumped for Bone Spear to be a viable option again (found your video on the bug) and then just decided to keep building minions and start farming the uniques- then I found this video. Thank you immensely for all your hard work- they really should do something for you for all your testing and hard work.

Already use grasping veins on my gloves. I tried to use the blood moon breachers but it sucks so im going back to the pants I had to add back the always cursed aura that melts. Only found ROSS from Varshan, never drops the other ring...50 runs so far this season

@ Can always run Cursed Aura on gloves and run Grasping on ring/amulet in place of Great Feast/Reanimation for the moment. Not sure what you mean with the ROSS comment, as both Sac Soul and Starless are both ROSS, and realistically you want neither on minions. If you are looking for Mendeln, that's on that bastard Beast in the Ice.

I’ve been noticing this too, and I’ve just arrived at the point where I need that big damage increase. Minion necro severely suffers in endgame without a properly working Mendeln. I’ll be seriously bummed if they don’t fix it quite soon :(.

i dont go nearly in depth as u do but i was at the dumby noticing something was wrong with minions. mendeln proc was the highest dmg number by far and i couldnt really scale it up and my dmg plateaued pretty quick in t2 / t3. hopefully mid season patch fixes this bcuz mages and golem would actually be formidable

Thank you for showing this to us. Do you think it's only applying to aspects which directly affect minions? I assume based on some minor testing that aspects that directly increase necromancer damage now will also increase minion damage. Or, at least it seems like, for example, Amplify Damage now works for your minion damage. So anyway, I would assume things like Aspect of Inner Calm will increase your minion damage now. Does that damage increase Mendeln's damage, too? Or, do all aspects period not work with the ring? Always happy to learn, and I appreciate your willingness to teach.

I went minion till 60. I'm very casual, in Hard atm, and at 47 I can tell inductively moving up past 60 is going to be dicey even w/the Maxroll guide. Thanks for the in-depth analysis. Hopefully Mendeln interaction gets fixed before I hit 60.

Even with the bugs you can do up to T2 no problem. It's T3 ( and 4 ) where you begin to notice that damage output isn't scaling as it should. I had no idea what the specific problem was ... but now I do thanks to this video.

Hi, Macro an other bug to report if you didnt do it already : my blood moon pants with hell bender GA went from +3 to +4 with a crit, then stayed at +4 with a second crit on it, and even on 12/12 stayed at +4? Sound like a bug no?

Totally Agree. Needs Fix badly. I have a maxed out S7 minion build exactly as outlined on maxroll with all mythic uniques.. and it feels like it sucks 'nearly' as bad as my season 6 minion build. Boss fights seem a bit better, but Hordes and Kurast under-city suck just as bad as S6. I can float through both with my other classes, but minion necro just can't hack it. It feels broken, considering what I've put into it.

The ring is still better. Swap Great Feast and Reanimation for aspects that buff you rather than purely your minions.

So based on what I'm seeing, Conceited and Vehement Brawler are the next best options? I'm newer to the game, but these seem the best universal dmg aspects given what we use (barrier and ultimate spam). Edit: Conceited is not working as intended either. Vehement is though.

@@MacroBioBoi So now on the basis of that new thread on r/D4Necro, it seems Conceited isn't working properly, and there's a possibility that Grasping Veins isn't either? I guess we could do Inner Calm for Conceited, but unsure what we would switch for Veins. Another question is that it seems Grow's 100% CHC doesn't work for Mendeln procs. Since we depend immensely on Mendeln for output (and since I've sacrificed all my crit chance rolls for damage due to Grow), does that mean I need to get native 100% crit on gear/skills to maximize damage? At the very least, I hope the Veins 50% CHC is usable.

They do this to Necros every season the minions always have a bunch of stuff not working right. They let Druids run around dealing 17 damage for how many seasons, Sorc players have been asking for buffs since launch, they nerfed the spiritborn into the ground their evade build isn’t even playable anymore. These devs are brutal and make odd decisions for sure. The best builds every season are super lame it’s the flavor of the month the build they’re telling us to play or they are cool but only working because of bugs.

Hi, i think there is also a bug with spawning corps on world boss. I couldn't maintain corpse tendrils and flesh eater up on world boss even when i was playing with the reaper that create corps. When, last season, i had no problem with it.

I don't have the ring. But none of my paragon nodes and skill tree bonuses are showing up as added damage. It is only displaying 40% from my scythe. I should have 285%

Keep the ring. Just swap Great Feast and Reanimation for aspects that don't exclusively buff your minions and not you.

Facerolling T4 at the moment with minions. But I had to cut a lot of aspects, while using grandfather and so on other uniques. So I dont feel the bug impact of mendeln over all. Not intended (just heared about the bug right now), but maybe an option for other minion enjoyers.

Does anyone know how much difference it will make when this is fixed? I have my minion build doing 50-200m damage on the numbers that appear a lot and then the occasional 500m-1.5b Atm Will I see much of a difference when this works?

You're significantly reduced in your damage output right now. Every Mendeln proc should be in the billions.
