If I'm not wrong, isn't concomitant prescription of macrolide and statin also contraindicated as well? Not just when there is hepatotoxicity already?

My dad has pneumonia currently. He didn’t require oxygen and doesn’t have a cough or congestion but had mental confusion and difficulty completing sentences. He was diagnosed by X-ray and elevated blood cell counts. He’s been given 5 days of amoxicillin and azithromycin. After 5 days he still gets occasional fever of 100.6. Is that normal? Can we expect it to get better over the next 3-4 days now that his pills have ended. Does he need another round of pills?

Dipheteria is caused by a Corynebacterium species (Corynebacterium diphteriae) and also I don't think Salmonella is sensitive to macrolides since it is an enterobacteria

Hello doctor , why the thromycin dose not pass the BBB and if they cross what happens
@immaculateclare66414 жыл бұрын
the BBB is made of lipids,meaning only lipophilic drugs can pass through it. the macrolides are water soluble or rather hydrophilic and that is why they cannot cross the BBB.

Good evening. An article by the lancet published a study on the use of chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine with or without the use of macrolides against the coronavirus. How would the macrolide mechanism work in this case?
