This is same as what Qiu Jianliang experienced after signing to one. Was given 1 fight and shelved despite being ranked top 3 in kickboxing. Both Barlow and Qiu are now fight commentors thx to ONE who signs top guys and shelves them as they aren't deemed marketable. ONE also did this to Nicollini after she beat Angela Lee and shelved her for 2 years before letting her get destroyed by Xiong Jingnan.

I had such high hopes when One started their big “Muay Thai” push, and I had a lot of faith in Yod Chatri but it’s just been disappointment after disappointment. All I hear from them is how big their viewership is and how much it’s grown, how much they’re doing for Muay Thai. Just using the term Muay Thai to sell a brand pisses me off to no end.

i love how sylvie puts 'being free' the ability to say yes or no to a fight is how it should be i think the way that you do it is perfect for you yeah sure your not rolling in money but its true to you and thats exactly what i love about you ❤️ Your legendary statues of most fights for a farang will go down in history just ask much as the Legends in the muay thai library. Thats so sad...she was one of the first people who inspired me when I started to pick up Muay Thai about 11 years ago. She trained with Rajasak when I was at this gym. He trained me ,a total noob, as well and told me who she was and her fights and all were instantly an inspiration. Im so sad about this. The whole ONE promotion always made the impression to me as its the final nail in the coffin for the sport, for a variety of reasons. I'm not gonna watch that anymore. I hope Iman will come back soon fighting for another organization, I'm sure that will happen!

So much respect to Iman Barlow & yourself. Its dirty when organisations like One & old K1 get too big & these things start happening, ppls lives get ruined for Iman forced retirement & Muay Thai will get changed for ever & lost. Stick to your guns regardless! Power of freedom & all the diffent aspects of Muay Thai are something worth more than all this other stuff. I also dont agree with this entertainment Muay Thai its just not my thing TBH personal opinion & if we dont have fighters like yourself & Iman Barlow sticking up for traditional Muay Thai & the great teachings with your vlogs & Muay Thai library the art will get lost merge into some sort of quasi mma kickboxing mma gloves over time I hate the thought of that, being im 102kg 6ft big hitter how can i use mma gloves seriously (My kids all use proper sized boxing gloves too) but they dont give a damn anyway.

They do this a lot in the music and entertainment industry, where an up and coming artist or producer gets signed and then shelved or their output drastically slows.

That’s a shame. One wants to stop on one’s own terms after all. I met Iman and her family around 18 years ago in BKK gym. She was a pleasant and grounded youth. I then met and chatted with her again around 7 years ago in O2 London after she’d just won a MT Grand Prix event. She was charming and humble. Great asset to the art/sport so let’s hope hee fortunes change or she stays in the game as a coach or SME.

Iman Barlow’s “Retirement video” sounded more like a contractual dispute with one then she’s lost love for the sport. Signing with one can be the kiss of death if your not a favorite.i dont understand why she cant leave & fight for another promotion ? the whole situation is strange. Neay every NakMuay wants to sign with One but i get the feeling it’s not all its made out to be

They are using big names to lure in viewers(fans of those big names) while as building the names of their “homegrown” and Thai fighters by having them beat this big names they sign. Also, they financially can’t afford to pay fighters from first world countries. They signed Iman Barlow with the intentions that she would fight a nobody then after a year of two of ring rust, make her fight and lose to Stamp, Supergirl, Wondergirl or Smilla who are always kept active.

I think SVD is too small for ONE’s divisions. Plus, why would she sign to ONE after seeing how they treat the other fighters? They would keep Sylvie waiting around for YEARS before she gets to fight against one of the Chatri’s favorites.
