I have been using RAT3 for over 3 years and it worked wonders for me. Absolutely loved it in Overwatch for speed and precision. Hopefully Mad Catz will come back and I'll be able to buy RAT series again.

Great video. I have the older Rat T.E.. They were trying out some weird ass sensor on the TE weren't they? Still using it after 3 years. Works just fine except for when dust gets into the sensor once in a while and ruins the movement. It might take a month to happen, or it might happen twice in 2 days. Its a fairly random occurrence. The shape is what really did it for me and why I got it all the way back then. It was among the lightest if not THE lightest mouse and that is what I was after. It also had the adjustable length which has really helped me. Finding the mouse that is perfect in size is always annoying, and this simply could pull off any length for me. The weight and balance, perfect, exactly what I wanted and after 3 years or however long it has been I am still loving how smooth it just floats when I use it. lol. However, I hear the sensor has some ickyness to it from others. Not sure if it is model to model, or something the sensor has all around. And I was wandering, having tested so many mice, if you had by any chance tested the RAT TE out as well to give an opinion on the sensor and how it felt?

I think I acually might pick the Rat 8 up, I previously owned a Rat 9 and I loved the shape, I just never liked the censor, but it is still working like brand new almost 3 years later. Rat 8 also fixes the durability problem I see with this mouse, as it has an aluminum base instead of a plastic one.

I've had this mouse for about a year, I think it's a pretty good mouse. It has a nice weight and tracks well. Only signs of wear I've noticed are that the right-click button is slightly loose and now has some travel before pressing it down. Other than that really good mouse, will probably get another RAT mouse when this one wears out!

Hey Zy, i appreciate your videos, as someone who also has a ton of mice. One of our key differences with preference is attributed to different hand sizes and perhaps grip. I have 11.5cm grip width, with 19.5cm length. Thus far, the Mionix Castor (oddly enough) has been a favorite along with the Corsair m65. I had used the rat 7 for 8 years happily, but have been on a quest to upgrade. Many "large hand" mice have been narrow, like the g502 and Basilisk. I've used the Naos 7000 (which I find oddly good for claw, with the pinky grooves used as a shelf), and have the new and rare Mad Catz RAT Pro S+ coming in from Japan, along with a Zowie FK1+ and Mionix Avior 7000. I'm pretty pleased with the m65 and castor as my daily drivers but am anxious for the latest batch of mice I'll be receiving. Have your procured a Pro S+? I'm curious if you'd appreciate the weight, sensor and the thumb clutch appears to be large and well placed. It does have a shape perhaps a bit wide for your hand though.

I loved the 5D Pad but it was in such an awkward position that it was barely of any use. Whish someone would make it to fit the thumb position and maybe fix the up direktion. Since i play more than just FPS i would really love intuitive side buttons and a D-Pad really helps a lot.

I have the RAT TE (predecessor to this), and quite like it. I used a Logitech G9X for years, and this mouse has a very similar shape. My hands are pretty small, and so I find this to give a nice wide base to rest my hand on, and light enough to easily finger-tip it around as needed. These RAT mice are pretty good products if you're someone who finds conventional mice uncomfortable (as I do).

Thanks for the review. Own a RAT 7 (very heavy took everything off it, weights, screwdriver, even weight lock and it becomes acceptable) had it 6 years still works fine. And own a RAT 1 as office mouse: sensor is poor and major design flaw is the back is too narrow for my claw grip so i accidentally tilt it all the time while gaming. If it had a square base instead of a triangular one it would be much better

I'm having g500 for last 9 years, no kinks or anything, works as the first day.....but I'm looking to buy a new mouse, on the g500 I like that there are 3 buttons for the thumb, the only ones which do have 3 are the new g502 proteus and his brother g402. The biggest problem for me is that I have a big hand, and position of my tip of the thumb is at the place where the button is on the new ones. It forces me to either pull my hand more to the back, lifting front of the thumb but let bone on the mouse for the grip (thumb starts to hurt after some time), or to grip the mouse as g500 but that means having that front button pressed all the time. Do you have maybe have a recommendation for g500 replacement (I can live with 2 side buttons aswell as long as there are still 8 buttons on the mouse,or 7 if dpi is just set to cycle). Thank you in advance if you read this :)

I have learned over som hard thinking about why some people like that or like this. One big topic that mice reveiw`s dosent cover is how you sit? If you sit real stright up an straight down a rounder mice chape may be better, but if u are leaning backwards in a chair while relaxing gaming fps: a flat mice is a better option for me like RAT`s design, now i can recommend this mice or series: Xtrfy Mz1 Rgb (its the best fps mice ever, its a combo between flat and round, well only if you not a rat addicted to RAT desig. OFC your hand, your size etc matter too.. , but dont forget to take in the position you sit in your mice pick. Heres what only RAT have perfect when we talk about a flat mice: it has a thumb rest! And the right mice button has a good grip to, u can have a finger under the button and it feels natural and make a extra good grip for the lift off. Then agin if you are a real hi end pro gamer i would look for mices from xtrfy series and find your shape.

@olbaze8 жыл бұрын
Ouch, the lack of your usual intro scared the heck out of me. I'm one of those people who have ridiculed the RAT lineup for their gaudy design and use of laser sensors, so it's good to see that they're improving, especially in a market that's filled with mice that look identical. Being able to adjust the mouse is an interesting idea and it can make a huge difference, but I'd be worried about the long term durability, not to mention the increased difficulty in cleaning the mouse. However, including any button that you cannot rebind (or having lackluster rebinding options) is a pretty big downside. Then again, not everyone can be Logitech when it comes to drivers. One thing I would like to see you do is a larger comparison of multiple similarly shaped/marketed, e.g. DeathAdder, Zowie EC2 and the ROG Gladius, or the various MMORPG mice, or the various small mice like the G Pro, G303, Abyssus and Sica, focusing on the differences between them.

Hey Zy, how do you cope with the sensor position on all of these new mice you're reviewing? I personally had trouble with muscle memory with the G403 after using the FK 2013, G303 and FK1 for years, it takes me like 3-4 hours or even up to 1-2 days to adjust to a different mouse, most notably the EC series, G502 and the G403.

i think i will go with cougar 700m, similar shape but cheaper...

Shape isn't as good on the 700M unfortunately ... they put too much vertical curve in the right side and very little room between sniper button and side buttons. I'd prefer this. Much better sensor too!
