I can't remember which former player it was, but they basically called out Watson saying, no one uses that many different massage therapists. Athletes like routines. I agree with SAS... the leagues should not become the judicial system..but him continuing to play before this is resolved is horrible PR and detrimental to the league SIMPLE SOLUTION... any player going through something like this should be placed on the exempt list & freeze 50% of their salary until their case can be resolved in both criminal & civil courts! But no more than 2 years! While on the exempt list their contract in terms of the time will not be frozen. Should contract end during the exemption... That player will not collect anything more beyond the end of the contract. if said player is deemed innocent... he gets the frozen salary + 33% extra (of entire salary while exempt) for damages! (Said player should be able to go after whoever in civil court for the rest of damages) if contract ended during the exemption.. the league would payout a prorated 100% salary equivalent to that players expired NFL contract + 33% (being paid 50% of your salary for not actually performing is still a good deal for the time being... Everyday people just get laid off) if player is deemed guilty of any or all things without a shadow of a doubt... leauge can keep the frozen salary & take back all or an certain amount of salary he was paid while on the exempt list based upon what the infraction was! if Cases still pending after two full years while contract still active... on day 730.. the team has the right to cut ties with said player for the time being and terminate any contract... but at the very least they do not need to pay any more money to that player while he's not performing a job!.. The player would then be taken off the exempt list & just be unsigned and not getting paid! If the player is signed or signed with a new team After day 730.... all associated accusations can no longer be a factor into placing said player on the exempt list and cannot be punishable without a conviction in criminal or civil court!

The NFL put themselves in this position. They valued PR and how the brand looks instead of its players. They wanted to play judge, jury and executioner. Every time a scandal came up with a player or every time a player got arrested and I just don't feel that even if deshaun Watson beats all of his cases, he should serve any type of suspension at all.
