Honestly hearing how people hate her character for being a skank(sleeping with her boss who had a wife and child) and her tragic backstory being no exscuse I get it I hate those kinds of people too but Her backstory is more of an explanation to me that an exscuse, she does it for a reason(this song describes it perfectly) which only makes me love her more as a satisfyingly tragic character who gets a wake up call in the end. She was doing it to survive, she knew if she didn't sleep with him and do everything he said, she would die. She even seemed horrified when the doctor killed Monica, and didn't hold anything against her or Aya

Maria is literally such a wonderful character. She did all of this to survive, but also had care for aya and his wife though she did what she did. There was really no choice for her. I always loved when I played back and got to see her side of the story and how she ended up developing in the end. Especially by keeping her word about always keeping aya safe, not for the reason the doctor wanted her safe, but because she truly cared for her. Gahh I love that game a lot man.

I'm one of the very few people who actually loves Maria throughout the game. Of course I love Monika and even Alfred but Maria stood out. I never hated her because she was following Alfred's orders otherwise he would kill her but he saved her life and made it worth living so of course she'd love him. Especially after her backstory

He used her as a lackey and for- *ahem*- more intimate things(not because he loves her but because he takes out his frustration like that). He picked her up to make her another of his victims but kept her by his side when he noticed her medical skills and down bad behaviour. Seriously though, their relationships was disgusting. He picked her up as a kid and, being an orphan that no one cared about, she felt bonded to him as he was the first and only person to show her "goodwill". Idk if you can call it a trauma bond or a Stockholm syndrome, but, she went so far as to let him use her and she also offed little kids for him. So yeah, she's messed up psychologically. And if it's not clear enough, there's a big age gap between them, I wouldn't be surprised if he came onto her way before she became of age.

i cannot believe it has been so many years since this masterpiece was released. It feels kinda weird that memories so far back include such a modern creation like a game. Mad father actually had good graphics and when i think back to early games i find it weird that such a good game is in amongst those unrealistic bulky character animations. Well, I mean, wasn't everyone in the Drevis Residence a bit insane? Alfred, kidnapping people and turning them into human dolls. Maria, being so in love with Alfred to the point where she would even assist him in his twisted experiments. Aya, the daughter, trapped in this world of madness. She alone must traverse the mansion, and must even watch as her father dies (Unless you get the bad ending, where Aya dies), and she even takes over her father's will (As scene by the ending cutscene).

I didn't like Maria. It's not because of her affair with the doctor, that wasn't of any means to me, his wife got what she wanted in the end and he deserved it. I was mad at Maria because she didn't do anything to stop Aya from taking her father's place and continuing his work. I don't understand how people love her, I can understand wanting to repay the doctor to all means, I'm just confused why she just accepted it.... Goes to show how deranged she really was, she never seemed normal to me anyway. An affair is one thing. To sit by and quietly watch as two people kill to turn others into dolls is wrong regardless of whether that person has family or not. I was so pissed when Dio's words and blessing didn't reach out to Aya. And I was absolutely aggravated that Dio didn't go with them because he felt it would upset them. How? Tell them the truth, that you aren't a spirit and stay with Aya, love her, keep her from becoming demented and crazy like her father. But, that's just my opinion. All arguments aside, I do love the song and how the vocals hit just right. It's beautiful, just like "Still Doll" which is my first and favorite track of the game. Apologies for the paragraph.
