Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome - Desert Crossing [HD]

I recently watched Fistful OF Dollars, a good classic, but Thunderdome imo is now a Great Classic. Snobs and simpletons can disagree all they like, but this is one of those rare movies that has all the key elements and amazingly excellent actors at the top of their game...even has a monkey.

It jumped the shark big time. Turner singing opening credits? Kids (aka ewoks?). Comic relief villains. I love Max, but this movie is as forgettable as they come.

I had no idea, until reading Wikipedia after the Queen of Soul’s passing, that “One of the Living” won a Grammy that year, and that it and “We Don’t Need Another Hero” both topped the charts. Just more proof that Turner ruled, and that in spite of its flaws, this movie did a lot of things right.

Beyond Thunderdome First, it never sat well with me how they cast Bruce Spence as an entirely new character. I wanted so bad for there to be some instance of recognition from his previous relationship with Max in the Road Warrior. Unfortunately the two men who helped save an entire community from the depredations of a vicious outland gang are complete strangers to one another in this film. There's an abundance of goofy moments and slapstick villainy throughout. I didn't hate this movie. There were some interesting and very creative moments. I did like the roulette wheel of punishment, the concept of a Peter Pan-like enclave of lost children, the entire exile sequence, sucking death pits in the desert. It's hard to follow up on a film like Road Warrior. It is regarded as one of the best action films of all time. I'm sure the edges were softened a bit for this film to cast a new on a wider audience hence the goofiness, Tina Tuners star power, the hype surrounding Thunderdome, etc. Beyond Thunderdome is palatable sequel. It's doesn't have the underlying bolts of adrenaline like its predecessors but there's enough decent narrative elements in play here to keep it from being outright bad.

It didn’t sit well with me either. But you can surmise that he was the same character. And that enough time had passed to allow Max and the Gyro captain to loose any affinity they had for one another. Both characters had changed and moved on, and were thus now loners and adversaries again in their struggle for survival in the wasteland.

Its more believable than a lot in Fury Road. The stall speed of this airplane is 70km/h, so with a strong headwind and fast running camels, it could be doable.

Sad to see the ruins of Sydney, the bridge and Opera House, at the end of the film. Sydney harbour is one huge empty trench, this is surprising because even if a nuclear bomb had obliterated the area the harbour would have refilled with water as it's near the sea. Are we supposed to think the sea disappeared too?

@Aaron Barranco And then once he leaves Bartertown, the movie becomes rated G like a Disney movie. Imagine the chase in Mad Max 2 with a touch of Disney.🐭🤡 Would've wrecked the whole thing. Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome could've been so much better if they kept that same harshness as they had in the first two films. There was a nuclear war between the second and third movies. I don't know how things got funnier. 🤷🏽‍♂️
