I'm really liking the idea that Fury Road is just another legend in the Mad Max mythology, and that there isn't a definitive timeline/chronology.

this movie freaking rocked. I know it has no legit purpose and it's wasting a lot of gas, but bringing along a huge vehicle so guys can play massive drums & a dude is strapped into bungee cords while playing a guitar that shoots fire freaking rules. I looked at the people in front of me in the theater and they were all unconsciously nodding their heads along to the epic metal music

Don't forget that little headbutt flash. I rewatched the first two Mad Max films just before seeing Fury Road and I noticed that when people get headbutted the screen has like flash of a frame of all white. I was pleasantly surprised to see it in Fury Road. I suppose it's George Millers touch.

George Miller said that he hadn't seen Road Warrior since it was made, so all "references" to that one were merely consequence of his imagination. Also, it's the same universe, so few of these are really references. It would be like saying that Indiana Jones had a whip in the fourth movie as a reference to the first one.

There's the part where they call Max feral. A nod to the feral boy in Road Warrior. Also he picks up a boomerang when he goes to destroy the oncoming vehicles with the guzzoline. It's the part where he tells Charlize to go up the road half a click.

I wanted to point out another easter egg. When Max gets into Furiosa's truck and starts finding lots of hidden weapons all over the driver's cabin, that could be an inside joke referencing the scene in Thunderdome when he is asked to give up his weapons and literally gives up a whole pile of guns and rifles he had hidden in his clothes.

@TheSMLIFfilms
@TheSMLIFfilms 9 жыл бұрын
Not really an easter egg, but it has to do with the visions that Max has. I loved when the little girl suddenly pops up in his vision and he covers his eyes with his hand instinctively, and they call back to it later when the war boy shoots him with a wrist crossbow and the girl flashes in his mind making him put his hand up to block it from going all the way through his skull. It definitely establishes a correlation between all that Max has lost giving him his killer instinct.

1) molotov cocktails from above - borrowed from the gyrocopter pilot in Road Warrior, thrown this time from the motorcycle gang. 2) War boys - there was one in Beyond Thunderdome living with the desert kids. 3) Citadel - analogous to the desert kids oasis in Thunderdome 4) Max collects guns while in the War rig - this is a reverse scene from Thunderdome where Max gives up all his guns before entering Bartertown in Thunderdome 5) Little deformed man - a nod to Master Blaster from Thunderdome 6) The abortion/baby delivery scene - this was an analogy to the gas compound people's mechanic who examined the rig Max brought back in Road Warrior, kind of a nerdy mechanic type.

"Guzoline" made perfect sense in an Australian accent. I thought it was bizarre too, when Charlize Theron as Furiosa pronounced it that way after _not_ using an Australian accent throughout the film. When Mad Max tells Furiosa to drive, he warns her about where she puts her hands that she might have a weapon under where she reaches, much like the Gyro Captain did with Max in Mad Max 2 when he reaches to switch off the booby-trap and reaches for the knife instead under the interceptor. There's a few things I saw, that you missed; 1. The use of bolt cutters. 2. The centralized guzaline area. 3. And also in Road Warrior the evil leader with the hockey mask had some pulsating viens on his head similar to the evil leader in Fury Road.

I kinda like the idea that all of the Mad Max movies are kinda depicting legends/myths of a future post-apocalyptic society, told generations after the events that inspire them occur. Hence all the weird continuity bits, much like mythologies of ancient cultures.

One pretty good easter egg you missed was the tow truck that towed max's interceptor back to Joe's compound is the exact same make of the Mack truck that max drove in The Road Warrior and was also in the final chase.

1. Max's wife lays in the hospital as doctors inventory her body parts not exactly like Fury Road's human blood bag but the concept is similar. George was first a doctor then director. 2. Old lady with a shot gun. Thanks for your video.

Another one: Right at the end of the movie when the white painted boys look out from their giant hamster wheel thing, you can see Scrooloose among them from Beyond Thunderdome. He's the only one with black paint around his eyes.

I would be totally onboard with the idea of recognizing this movie's chronology as taking place after the kid friendly movie that was Thunderdome. Not really up to me, but when the Director himself says it's wide open to thought, it can be seen as an invitation to the viewers to answer for themselves.
