Max hid weapons all over his interceptor.I liked that Nux was easily turned. Just think, when she touched him that was probably the first time he has ever felt affection. She sympathizes with Nux because like herself, he is a slave too. The lookout was actually bait. They used a naked woman to attract wastelanders to enact banditry on. What kind of semi are you looking at, I'm looking at a site that sells semis, one of theirs have two tanks that add up to 250 gallons for a large semi(Not all semis are equal, go figure). Although that's still a shitload of miles this truck is not in normal condition and has been changed to have more horsepower and use nitrous while driving on sand and is reinforced meaning it's heavier than it should be. I've seen classic cars in bad condition or changed to be purely for show that get 0.5-2 MPG, with that in mind and looking at the world they live in, do you really think that 4 MPG is "extremely" low?

It didn't bother to explain everything - it respects our intelligence enough to know that it is unnecessary to explain them to anyone with a strong imagination and a keen eye, and that taking the time to explain everything would bog the film down like 90% of bloated action/sci-fi movies these days.

Rowan J Coleman I believe they flipped a car for that sequence, but that one front-on angle sure looks like CG. Maybe they put a CG replacement over the original stunt for some reason. I could be wrong, but it just doesn't look like it's lit the way a real car would have been. Just to be clear, I'm not trying to bash the film; I think they did a great job with it, and there's nothing wrong with mixing in CG and practical effects together to make a sequence work. That's what makes Jurassic Park stand up so well more than 20 years later. If you only look at the shots with the CG t-rex, it looks pretty dated. But when those shots are interspersed with the excellent animations & practical effects, you don't notice.

Part of the whole arc of Fury Road is that Max is a wreck of a human being, nearly animalistic, after years of the wasteland grinding away at this humanity.

It's not just that scene. The flashbacks show Max's character arc (and mental state). He's plagued by guilt to the point that he's just surviving, not really living. His flashbacks become crippling, distracting him when he needs to fight or run. He's become a nameless nobody with no one to care for, which is what he thinks he needs to do to survive. He initially refuses to help the women not because he doesn't care, but because he can't bare the thought of failing them. When he almost allows the women to drive off without him, his flashbacks (which lessened the more he helped them), come back with a vengeance. When he decides to help them take the Citadel, he only has one more flashback and that one saves his life. By trying to help, he's earned his redemption and he's no longer being haunted (whether they're supposed to be literal ghosts or manifestations of his guilt). When he and Furiosa succeed, he's earned his name back in his own mind. He's back to being Max.

From the Wiki, which combines what was known in the movie, told in interviews, and put in the comic that later told their backstories: After she came to The Citadel she was traded into Immortan Joe's hands to become one of his Wives. When her mentor was killed she took over his command. Furiosa became Immortan Joe's finest warrior and earned the rank of Imperator. She lost her arm during one of the battles while serving Immortan Joe. She was the only woman among the military ranks of Immortan Joe's army. Her nickname was "Bag of Nails". Furiosa was ordered by Immortan to protect the five wives from Rictus Erectus and his hot temperament. At first she never engaged with the women, even after witnessing the rapes and medical procedures performed on the Five Wives. One night Furiosa noticed Splendid attempting to perform self-abortion but she stopped her, furious about the fact the Five Wives could not appreciate the luxurious life that they had. After weeks spent protecting the Five Wives, Furiosa started to become protective of them, especially after Organic Mechanic called them for a routine medical procedure and to act as entertainment for Immortan Joe, which resulted in the Dag's rape and her pregnancy. Furiosa explained to the Five Wives that she can take them to the Green Place even though she was not sure if it still exists. Right after revealing that, she was relieved of her duty as The Five Wives' protector and was given a new War Rig. I know you guys are arseholes, and usually I love you for it, but Max saving Furiosa by doing a blood transfusion isn't an ex machina. It was established right from the opening scenes that Max is a universal doner and it's a pretty significant plot point, not to mention that his medical skills have been well-established in other Mad Max films (which you say yourself!). An ex machina is something that comes out of nowhere to save the day without any prior foreshadowing or establishment. The aliens in Signs being vulnerable to water - that's an ex machina, or those aliens in a spacecraft from Life of Brian. Mad Max: Fury Road is, in my view, about as close to a perfect film as you get. It's over the top and ridiculous, to be sure, yet manages to be tightly plotted

If i may nitpick, the only things that bothered me, while i watched "Fury Road": 1. how Furiosa would be able to get rid of War Rig crew and escorting vehicles on her own, once they`d know, that she is not going for supplies? There was whole bunch of armed War Boys with her... If she was counting on Buzzards... If Buzzards would win- she would be dead, or who knows what else would be done to her and other women, and if Buzzard would lose, there is still highly fanatical, armedl bunch on her truck. After she`d get to Rock Riders they`d knew something`s up. 2. If she did that shit many times(and she says so in the movie)- running away- and to the point that she was able to make a deal with Rock Riders, Immortan would know she isn`t trust whorthy. And since nobody saw her making said deal- why didn`t she run then? How the fuck she landed as Imperator, if she is not trustwhorty??? 3. And why Rock Riderss even started to shoot??? Drop the rocks, ride down in force, pull the gun, "gimmie guzzoline". Help her unhitch pod quickly. She is on her merry way, and they have thing she promised. Then pull this shit into some safe space and wait War Parties to pass. Immortan would leave them alone, since he was more interested in his harme, than small pod of fuel

They left a lot out of the movie but in a very large nutshell.... She was originally one of Immortan Joe's wives but she was barren so he gave her to one of his Imperator's where she served under his command on War Rigs becoming one of their best warriors. Once he died she got promoted to the rank Imperator. Her job was to be protector to the Wives' so nobody would hurt/rape them. She wound up becoming too close to them and transfered jobs back to running a War Rig. Since she was such high rank she could probably roam freely and that's how she "tried it many times" but realized she couldn't do it on her own. With the War Rig and the War Boys she thought she might stand a chance, since she was higher rank they would follow her orders. At one point in the movie they were like WTF she's gone rogue but by that point they were all pretty much killed off by the Buzzards while still trying to protect the War Rig. Rock Riders made the deal for the "guzzoline" because they just figured it was her stealing the War Rig and supplies. If they knew she was carrying the Wives they wouldn't allow it because of what Immortan Joe would do in retaliation. That's why she said she was supposed to be alone and had to hide everyone including Max during the trade off. The Rock Riders even made a statement about how many people were chasing her before they caught in and attacked. Since it's a huge wasteland a Smokey and the Bandit move wouldn't work while waiting for the other War Parties to pass, she would eventually be spotted by somebody since all 3 communities worked together or would have been done in by one of the other hostile factions in the area to gain favor with Immortan. My major nitpick with the movie despite all the stuff they left vague was when Immortan Joe said they were going to be transporting " aqua-cola" (water), then it switches to a tanker full of "mothers milk" toward the end. Like what the hell did Gastown need with a tanker full of breast milk? Plus with how hot that wasteland is and no refridgeration it would spoil waay before they accumulated that much. *shrug*

There was likely only a small known route through the mountains, from where they came from, so they couldn't circle them. A few more things: when the pregnant woman was on the outside of the truck, she grabbed the exhaust, granted it was wrapped in exhaust tape, but she would have still gotten burned. The truck's engines didn't have air filters, they would have been totally fucked after driving around in that dust. Spitting gas into the intake would have only made the engine run rich and would not make more power. And one more small thing: the car that got destroyed by flipping into the pit had BFG all-terrains on the rear and mud-terrains on the front, it would make more sense to have the mud-terrains on the rear.

pretty sure the openings in the chastity belts are for urinating, menstruation, etc. also, a lot of the other sins have logical explanations (like the naked woman being used as a bait/trap, the compass being affected by the incoming storm, the 'unexplained' backstory of side characters being shown through subtleties alongside the story line, the way the cars are designed/function, etc.) honestly, this is the FIRST action movie that i had ever liked - so much so that i actually went to go see it in the theaters multiple times and then eventually bought it on dvd. i can only hope that more action films take their cue from mad max: fury road.

Max being a universal donor was a plot artifact planted at the beginning of the movie, and it played a role during the development of the story even before the final act of the plot came into play. Of course, at the end of the movie it seemed like a highly convenient plot device, but it doesn't fully qualifies as a deus ex machina because it was actually explained, it didn't come out of nowhere, and it didn't solve the problem through some vague bullsh*t explanation. In the ancient greek, many tragedies used to feature a "god" at the climax of the story. They usually descended this actor to the stage via a machine (an archaic version of a crane) and this guy playing the god resolved the conflict and ended the drama through this divine, highly convenient intervention. That's why the latin phrase "deus ex machina" (god of the machine) is used to express a cheap and advantageous plot device.

sinning the sinner. 1 The compass reading is important as he is heading into a zero visibility situation it's very likely he could get turned around and lose his bearings in the desert because the landmarks constantly change in the desert especially during a sand storm. it's easy to do and can be easily fatal. 2 the hole in the chastity belt is not for things to go in...it's for things to come out...do you not know how a woman's anatomy works or do you assume they just have to piss all over themselves every time? they were locked on. only removed for 2 reasons procreation and excrementation. which I would assume was once a day or maybe not even every other day given their diets are not going to be very good. 3 unconsciousness. if your unconscious for more then 10 min from being knocked unconscious, you need medical attention. you are likely dying. 4 semi truck acceleration. you could easily catch up to a semi when it's starting from a dead stop. especially if it's hauling water and gas...I used to drive a semi. trust me you will shift it 6 times before you break 30 mph. they are also in sand...if they try to accelerate to fast they will dig in and get stuck. 5 driving way further then a semi should be able to drive on one tank of gas. (this isn't going well for you with the semi stuff) most semi's have 150 gallon tanks generally that's a range of about 800 mile depending on many factors. some have double tanks for 300 gallons. who knows what they could have modified it for. 6 There are boundaries preventing them from going too far left or right. the loose sand they will sink into if they stray too far off fury road. 7 tiny tree has the power to withstand...oh wait it's assisting it going in the right direction. so the horsepower doesn't matter at all? right all that matters is that the already not quite enough traction is boosted to just enough to get moving once you have momentum you can usually pull through things like this. 8 semi trucks behave much differently then cars, you would be surprised at what makes your truck stick and what you can easily glide over.
