I think it has more to do with Don's preference in women. Although Don is attracted to intelligent and domineering women he prefers a relationship where he can be in control. Peggy is his match. She understands almost as if she was his twin sister. As for Stan, I can see the writers setting us up for "Steggy" relationship. I'm sure how I feel about it though.

It's amazing they worked together for like 2 years and never talked about the baby or acted like anything happened. Don must have wondered and had feelings about it since he never knew his mother. It's interesting he doesn't ask her who the father is but if she even knows. I think they both judged each other a little bit. Peggy doesn't understand why he's such a philanderer. But they both realize that no one is perfect and shit happens.

Looking back, this scene reminds me of one in the second Bridget Jones book where Bridget and her mom, Pam, talk about her love life and Pam tells her this: "That’s how it works, when people really love each other. But, the thing is, darling, it doesn’t happen to ones who have sharp edges, or break if they get dropped, or ones made of silly synthetic stuff that doesn’t last. You have to be brave and let the other person know who you are and what you feel." In short Bridget = Peggy, Pam = Don

I love them, but that's because they're best as bros. Professional bros at that, kinda like Liz Lemon and Jack. They're breaking my heart these days though. If I were to ship Pegs with anyone it'd be with Stan. But again I know that relationship will never work out. Maybe they should just have a spin off of Stan and Peggy talking on the phone.
