I actually started re-watching the series and this was absolutely the episode I got the most upset at. Yes, Rarity took on way too much work at once... but she got the original dresses done with plenty of time to spare (they also went through winter AND another autumn before the Gala even happened). Her skill and capabilities aren't in question. She should have gotten at least some direction from her friends about what they'd want to wear, but the dresses were also gifts that their friend made for them. It infuriated me more that her friends weren't happy to receive the gifts, regardless of whether they actually liked them or not... THEY DIDN'T EVEN TRY THEM ON BEFORE TEARING HER DOWN!!! I would've understood if it was a commissioned work, but it wasn't, it was a gift... I truly understand that Rarity, despite wanting to be a _Fashionista!_, is not cut out for that style. She is a Tailor, it might not sound so grand... but she makes outfits unique to each of her clients, she doesn't mass-produce outfits like some sort of dress printing press.

I'll admit I usually stay away from the episode review side of mlp fan works, due to the negativity that can be found there (I know it's not everyone, but there's enough of it that it's not good for my mental state). But on Doctor Wolf's recommendation I'm here, and I'd just like to say it was a great and enjoyable video. 😊👍 I may not be an artist, or at least not much of one, but I do at least somewhat understand how you two feel. Constantly feeling pressure, even at times when there is none. Or pouring work into something only to have it not receive the reaction you hoped for. Actually that's part of the reason I'm commenting, to make sure you and your friends know you did a wonderful job, and that the art and the review and even the banter between you was all done wonderfully well. I'll admit I think I've even made the mistake of overhyping my own work to myself, though with fanfiction instead of art. I've always wanted to make things that people will enjoy. Though I have also realized that to truly appreciate something you need to have tried it, like how I never truly appreciated how much effort and work went into writing until I had been trying it myself for a year or so, which also helped me appreciate art more as well. Anyway, I'll stop blabbering now. I do that on occasion despite being very introverted. 😋 Have a wonderful day/night! Sincerely, Guardian Blade. PS. Sorry if I said anything stupid or out of place. Sometimes I completely miss word things or just say something stupid without realizing it. So my apologies if anything I said came off wrong. Sincerely, Guard- Wait, I already said that. Xb

You know, this review really spoke to me. As an artist, or rather an author, who is currently struggling to get their work off the ground, I have to deal with many of the same stresses and fears. My problems are not the same as rarities as I have not taken a whole lot of requests he had, the only feedback or criticism I gotten are from my close friends and family, and I'm not overworked because, as I said, I'm still struggling to get off the ground, mostly due to writers block. But a lot of similar problems are there. I keep worrying about what my readers will think of my work, I keep thinking about what direction my story should go in or how I can possibly get to ideas to fit together. Let's just say that, Maddy I empathize.

I kinda relate to this episode since I've been working on KZbins and trying to entertain my fans despite I rarely get any views despite all my hard work I spend on it. All the very small views make me believe I'm a failure and with lack of communication doesn't help at all. I don't make videos to make money, just to try to get people to laugh but I still feel like a shadow not just in the Brony fandom but in all of KZbin.

This episode is so relatable to me! I work for a printing and design company and customers can be so pushy and indecisive! The phrase "The customer is always right" is a lie. The customer can absolutely be wrong! But you have to balance in your customer service and the discerning whether the customer is worth doing work for. For example: there was a customer that I though the company should not do work for with but the decision was not up to me and we took the client on and consistently lost money on the customer for YEARS as a result.

The tight rope all creatives walk. Schedules can fix part of this, preventing being lost in ideas until one forgets ones they intended on expanding. Completing simple works is another way of maintain motivation but can lead into unfinished projects if too many are taken on at once. Being relieved instead of in awe once finished with any pieces very common.

@autumbreeze11293 жыл бұрын
I... somehow never noticed that blip during the reprise of the song where they say "keep it in our budget" when it's free... at least, not fully. I always did think something was off with that line in the song, but could never put my finger on it. That does feel odd. Have to say, at first, going into this video, I didn't think I'd be able to relate... until it got to the part about "losing the will to do something because someone keeps insisting on it, causing further disinterest in continuing". I'm currently on hiatus of writing a particular fic involving Fluttershy becoming the CMC's mother through means I will NOT say here because I don't want KZbin coming down on me and you, Maddy. The person I'm doing this fanfic for for free and I have already discussed the baseline of how the story should go. However, due to a creative block I'm having on exactly how to continue the story to the discussed points, the fic has understandably been put on the backburner for the time being. Last time we interacted and he asked if I was still planning to continue it, asking on the main page, of all places, and I said yes, saying I'm just trying to figure out how to continue the story... he reiterated what we'd already established as if I'd somehow forgotten. It both depressed and agrivated me that he responded as if I didn't remember what we'd already discussed and ignored the part where I said I'm trying to figure out HOW to continue, not WHAT to continue. It made me even less motivated to get back to the fanfic and I haven't even looked at it since

what truly irked and frustrated me about this dang episode is how the Mane 6 treat Rarity's hard work in personalize gifts as that gift your great, great, great gandma gives you. and thought that the dresses that THEY had Rarity made was suited for a high-end, upper-class social party like the grand galloping gala! NO! NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! those 'dresses' aren't dresses, there costumes for a neighborhood Halloween party! i can't even look at the damn things after seeing them for the first time years ago, still can't today! i mean look at what the Mane 6 made Rarity make: Twilight: basically a poncho with a astrologic mortify, with a friggen head band with stars on springs on her head! Applejack: she looks like she's ready to play in the mud at a family gathering, while also working on the farm in the process! Rainbow: it's basically a suit of GAUDY armor! she looks ready to start a fight, rather than going to a gala! Pinkie: she looks like an overdone Alice and Wonderland cupcake, her skirt even looks like a damn foil cup! Fluttershy: it's basically a piece of the side walk, and a carpet! now the dresses that Rarity ACTUALLY made: Twilight: the blue and silver work well with Twilight's own purple color scheme, and the starry design for it signifies Twilight's love for astrology but in a more discreet, yet pleasing way. and it looks slightly like a sorcerers cape. Applejack: the brown and green work with her own colors, and the design isn't to far into cowboy, or southern belle, it strikes a nice balance of being pretty and authentic southern. Rainbow: it's the simplest out the group, but it pays homage to Rainbow's pegasi history, as the pegasi have a more Greek influenced aesthetic. also, a golden reef and bejeweled grapes, those are things that lords and ladies of olden time afforded, Rarity is basically saying Rainbow is a queen in her eye. Pinkie: this ties in well with Pinkie's already cute color scheme and friendly design, making the dress look like a very fancy candy wrapping pattern, completes Pinkie's own cuteness, and general sweet attitude. Fluttershy: this is simply beautiful, the green meshes well with Fluttershy's pale yellow coat, acting as sun rays bathing over a beautiful green landscape, with her mane acting a metaphorical flower bed, and having butterfly accessories. Rarity turned her friend into a piece of living nature scenery.
