Fluttershy is right when individuals do have trouble keeping to lessons as they grow. It's in our nature to slip and fall back into old habits. It's not like we can change after one time. It's a hard trek to keep to that new mindset and even after going for years good, we could still slip up. I think people just don't want to recognize mistakes, to think that they should know better, so when they see the realism in Fluttershy regressing at times, they are slapping away the reality of their own mistakes when trying to do better.

As a person who is a Fluttershy stan I’m in the same boat when it comes to how you feel about Fluttershy. Out of all the people in my group of friends I am the most introverted and too afraid of a lot of stuff in the world to really wanna go out anywhere due to my crippling anxiety, I related to Fluttershy a lot in the Halloween episode where she refuses to do a lot of activities because of what could happen and even upsetting people around her.

People like it because it's based off gore and death! Or that's what people think it should be! And I'm so glad Fluttershy didn't end up celebrating with them because guess what? Initially, I loved Rarity. Then - don't quite remember the moment - I just started asking myself why did I even like her. A lot of time has passed, and I realise that if initially I liked her as a comic relief character, today I love her because I do understand her and have faults similar to hers. That's why I started to dislike Rarity - I didn't like her faults, MY faults. I had to rethink my whole formula of "helping people" because of her and friends around me. And it was good. And healthy. And I got to understand what's "toxic" or "self-destructive." And somehow, but ten years after, Rarity ends up on my own #1 favorite pony. They all helped. But Rarity did especially. Thanks MLP.

Thank you. Thank YOU! Thank you so much for pointing out that backsliding is a thing! Everyone criticizes Fluttershy for "hitting the reset button after every lesson" until season 5, but none of them except maybe DRWolf ever addressed the fact that is a thing that people actually do! I do it, my Dad does it, my girlfriend does it, everyone with any form of mental illness has or will do it at some point! Why? Because as Lily Orchard once said in one of her videos, "misery is comfortable". Or to be more precise, familiarity is comfortable. Established habits and behavior patterns are hard as h*yay* to break even when you know they are bad or hurting you. Sometimes, you need to learn the same lesson multiple times in order to succeed in applying it. Especially when you are an adult and the negative behavior pattern is ENTRENCHED like Fluttershy's was! Seriously, what Fluttershy went through to become able to assert herself was the equivalent of trying to climb out of a muddy pit during a rain storm. Also, since I'm on the subject, I'd like to point out that if you pay attention to the episodes, you will notice that nearly every episode was a different variation of the lesson of assertiveness and confidence. Dragon Shy = It is possible to overcome your fears. Hurricane Fluttershy = You can break through the psychological wall holding you back. Putting Your Hoof Down = Be assertive, but don't be a jerk about it. Fili Vanili = Stage fright is real, but you can fight past it. And those are just the ones off the top of my head. Fluttershy is my favorite pony because she is proof that it is completely possible for someone to overcome their hang-ups if they just keep trying and have a good support system.

I didn't know what your #1 would be but when you said it was fluttershy i was happy fluttershy is my favorite too i use to be shy and grew out of my shell still shy a little but i try to be kind to others and i now how you feel about your brother my sister is like that in a way look forward to more video's

Pinkie pie has always been in my top five favorites. Pinkie pie is the reason i got into the show. When I first watchwd the show, i had lost my mother and my great grandparents who i was very close to, and i was in a very,dark place..pinkie pie made me smile and laugh for the first time in a long time and I will always love her for it.
