I wonder if the release hook button was put in upside down during the assembling ?..or is actually snapped?

Its actually snapped. Must have happened during assembly because the plastics on this are solid. Had it broken after, the piece should be rattling inside. Even if I had the piece, I cant take it apart, they covered all the screw holes

Sorry to see you had issues with yours. As far as QC, I only had a couple of finger prints on the lower jaw of red lion's head. Hopefully they address the issue, they were good communicating with me.

Absolutely fantastic figure. I do have one issue however, also with the blue lion attaching mechanism. I seem to have the opposite problem to your's...the internal hook seems too big and it's difficult to detatch it from the black lions leg. In fact, the first time i tried it snapped half of the "latch' which it hooks on to on the black lion leg. If you look closely, those little tabs on the black lions legs are not strongly constructed. A shame as the rest of the figure is so well made! The leg still attaches but I am concerned about snapping off the other half of the black lions tab..

Daniel Whyte Ive decided just to leave it alone actually. I know the tabs you are talking about. Its almost better to just buy two of these if you wanna mess with the lions so you dont have to keep combining and taking apart

I picked up the figure from eBay after watching your review and I have a question, how do I take the arms out of the shoulder? They clicked into place and now I have no idea how to take them off. The legs have a button on them to detach from Black lion but there's nothing on Green & Red lions. Any help is appreciated. I really don't want to yank the arms off and break that shoulder peg.

thats what everyone wants to know. there is no other answer apart from "be careful" this has caused lots of frustration with collectors. Most of us have decided to leave it in combined form. if you do manage to get it out, I would put some plastic safe grease on the connection points for the next time. Ive decided to leave mine alone for fear of breakage

RocketPunchArmy Yep, my order came in a day or so ago. Mine feels fine - the leg locking mechanism doesn't work super well, moreso on the yellow lion. I think the hook that's supposed to lock into the black lion's legs ends up a bit too thick due to paint. Great presentation though, I like it a lot despite a couple little crits I have.

I have the same issue with my blue lion. I had this figure a while now and I just recently just started to play with it, then I noticed i can't connect blue lion. The tab for joining is broken, same as yours. Who did you contact? I got mine preordered from madtoys. Can you give any info to who should a contact?

ogre master so you dont see a hook? compare to the yellow, if you dont see it, contact [e-mail] I'm pretty sure thats the email, if not I can double check

Did you ever get your Blue Lion fixed? The only problems I had were minor the horn on the right side of the head will not go all the way down and my yellow lion does come unattached if you hit it wrong (still works for me though). I kinda wish they would have made the upper arm swivel and that the Lions legs had that little bit of give that the Toynami version did (do you know what I'm talking about?). But all in all I think that this is the superior Voltron.

idstealer000 I should have the new blue any day now. You know why your yellow is coming off? attach him to black lion, then look at the release button on the back. if its not sticking out, its not latched correctly. Yeah the legs would have been better with more give

jgtdragon I would wait to see if this comes out officially through a different outlet. Dealing with the manufacturer SUCKS if you have issues. I waited forever for replacement parts and had to pretty much threaten them before the actually sent anything out. Great toy, shitty service

RocketPunchArmy; - This figure is aces! Its too f-n bad that they let a few blue and yellow lions through inspection that were that damaged. I had a question about the new toynami one and if u had any info on that one coming out? Not the anniversary one the one showed at toy fair 2015. It looks pretty sweet and made me decide to skip this one in Lou of that one coming out that's official & IMO looks as good as this if not better. Any thoughts or info Chachi ? That blue lion issue is a bummer. I was contemplating on getting this figure, because I saw a lot of good reviews before. First time I watched your review on this and that happened. So was it ever resolved? I sure hope the one I'm getting wouldn't have that issue. Nice review especially staying cool and soldiering on to finish the review after that QC issue.

I was thinking on getting that big Toynamy Voltron but the lions are lacking of details. When I found out that this is getting out as Voltron and more Anime Accurate, I choose the Madtoys without hesitation.

to RPA the toy looks cool but not as cool as the vintage one i had the vintage one before and it has a lot of weapons and if i am not mistaken rockets to attach to the toys so if i want to chose between them i would like the vintage over the new one and ur review is wonderful

shadowzx1 The vintage is always the better one. Its an amazing toy even 30+ years later. Manufacturing like that is a lost art. Hopefully Bandai can do a Soul of Chogokin version that blows away all the other ones. I just want one that looks like it jumped off the screen, not something stylized like Toynamis upcoming Ultimate Voltron

I thought this was kinda junky back when it came out; saw it in Hong Kong and was turned off by the second rate fit and finish, looks even worse now... Your disheartening sigh when you realized it was stuffed, yeah... : ( Guess everybody is mighty pleased about the SOC; imagine if Bandai somehow messes up the engineering or something XD Anyway, I'm sure you'll have a killer review when the time comes.

Snowmation I also had issues with the blue lion on my 30th Anniv. Toynami Masterpiece. It was completely loose and wobbles horribly. Even licensed figures have issues
