Here's a strange one for you, Mike and Keith: when we were kids, we played with the Quija board a lot. It was the ONLY toy we had. We were dirt poor, lived way out in the country, far from anyone. How we got hold of it, I dont remember. It wasn't like our parents to buy us toys or games, so I'm guessing someone gave it to us. So anyway, all us kids would spend a lot of time playing in the short time we had it. We'd ask questions like where is Amelia Earhart (it told us a very specific location and what we guessed were coordinates/numbers, which we checked on a globe, and they matched). I remember we wrote it down and even told our mom, but she basically dismissed us as just kids and the board isn't real, don't believe it. We asked a lot of questions like that, but the Earhart one and another are the 2 answers that stuck in my mind. One of the other questions we asked, but I think it was days or weeks later, was who we were speaking with. It said grandma. We asked her name, etc, and she told us, spelling it specifically. We were writing down answers to all questions, btw. We then asked if it could prove it was our grandma. It said, your mom had a little dog that died. More questions, it died on the steps, it hung itself, etc. What was it's name? Jack. Well, WE had never once heard our mom say she ever had a dog, much less a little dog that died, or what it's name was, but we thought we'd double check with mom. (We also didn't know how to spell our grandma's name). So we went to mom, who was washing dishes at the sink, and asked her if our grandma's name was Jessie, spelled ie. Yes. We explained we were playing Quija board. Well did you ever have a dog when you were little. She said yeah, once, when I was really little. So anyways, we started getting specific and asked, well was his name Jack, and did he hang himself on the steps? I swear to you, my mom dropped and shattered the glass she was washing and just about fainted. She was shaking like a leaf and demanded to know how we knew that. We said the Quija board told us. Now my mom has never been one to believe in spiritual or ghostly things, but that day, she was so scared she told us stop playing with that thing! There's something wrong with a game that can tell you something like that! Anyway, made a believer out of us and her that day, ha ha.

I have been a paranormal investigator for 17 years. And what I learned, it's not the board . At all. It's the intent. You can use torn up paper and a cup. Like most things, it's the intent behind the use. Do it safe, do it right. Always close at the end. And like you mentioned, be so very very careful with questions.

At Fairmount Cemetery in Denver, CO, is a gray granite headstone with the name Helen Peters Nosworthy 1851 - 1940, with the the phrase "The Woman Who Named The Ouija Board". It has engraved the story you told of the meaning, "Good Luck". It also has Elijah Bond's name at the bottom. It's a beautiful stone, with the Ouija styled smiling Sun on the front and the Moon on the backside. A pair of hands on a planchette and the words "Talking Board Historical Society Est. 2010" is in an oval at the base.

I have had a similar experience with my son and the seeing someone who is not who it's supposed to be! My middle son is quite active and I am always having to tell him to sit down etc. I was serving dinner and I said "Jordan, please come sit at the table, I've asked you so many times" and he said "Mom but I am" I instantly got really visibly shaken and excused myself. I was looking towards our living room and I saw him running across the living room and my son was actually BEHIND me seated at the kitchen table!!! I've never been that shaken!! Believe it or don't...it was my one and only experience with something like that! I did hear and see weird things in that house a lot!!! My kids also mentioned weird things.

We all heard a rattling from one of the gifts it was very loud as I opened one at a time looking for the one ratting it turned out to be the planchette from the wegee board rattling around in the box. Scared me so bad I never opened the box and I put it in the rafters in one of our barns. It's still there as far as I know

One of my friends intoduced me to the Ouija board years ago. To prove to my skeptic mind that she was not pushing the plancehette, we both held our finger tips above it. We were not touching it at all, the planchette still moved. We were facinated with it. Played it all the time (aways with our fingers above the Planchette). Nothing bad ever happened. One day I wanted to show another friend the Ouija board. I grabbed the one out of my sisters bedroom, soon we were asking questions. Then my bathroom fan started dripping water, no big deal. We continued with the questions but within just a min. the drip turned into a huge waterfall coming through the ceiling fan. The water was puring in a steady stream from around one edge and almost half way around the next edge. We both freaked out, put the Ouija board away. Then the water stopped, not even a drip. I had lived there for years, that never happened before or after. It scared me enough that I have not touched an Ouija board since. They say it opens a portal into the spiritual relm and anything can come through. Good and bad, you never know what you're going to get. My experience was enough to convince me that I want nothing to do with them.
