As someone in New York, Madagascar really did capture the awe of walking into Grand Central Terminal. With the huge arched windows and the incredible constellations on the ceiling, the main concourse is absolutely breathtaking. The mural etched on the ceiling of Grand Central is supposed to be a zodiac star map from March through October. Around the constellations, dozens of tiny electrical lights were installed to add more oomph to the painted stars, at the insistence of artist Paul César Helleu in 1913. However they realized the constellations were backwards. Even though all the constellations are now where they should be, Orion is reversed! Although he’s placed in the correct location, the constellation itself is backwards! Here's some interesting facts about the creatures Madagascar showcased: In ring-tailed lemur groups, and in most lemur species, females are in charge. Female lemurs get preferential treatment, like the best food and sleeping spots. So in real-life, it would be Queen Juliette! Maurice is an aye-aye, and they are known for having an unusual way of finding food by tapping on trees to find grubs, then gnaws holes in the wood using its forward-slanting incisors to create a small hole into which it inserts its narrow middle finger to pull the grubs out. This foraging method is called percussive foraging, and the only other creature to do this are the striped possum and trioks of northern Australia and New Guinea.

Mort is love, Mort is life. Mort is a mouse lemur, and they have the smallest known brain of any primate, at just 0.004 pound or 2 grams! Besides the fossa and lemurs, another interesting creature in Madagascar are mantellas, Madagascar's answer to poison dart frogs. And yup, millions live on Madagascar with a wide array of faiths and customs. The Malagasy are descendants of settlers from Borneo and East Africa and draw their cultural heritage from Southeast Asia, India, Africa, and the Middle East. Around 20 ethnic groups coexist on the island. Their common language, also called Malagasy, is most closely related to a language spoken in southeast Borneo. A majority of the population depends on subsistence farming. Not only are the Madagascar movies hilarious, but because of the Madagascar franchise, many people have learned about the unique wildlife and habitats Madagascar has to offer, and thus has helped push the conservation of these wonderful creatures and protect the island's biodiversity. About 90% of Madagascar’s plants and animals live nowhere else, and habitat loss in Madagascar is a huge issue.

I love how Gloria, despite her sometimes strict and short-tempered personality, cares deeply for others and can be overprotective towards her friends as well as Melman. I also like how she can easily forgive others like how she managed to forgive Alex for going to far with tirading Marty for their predicament (Being standreded on Madagascar plus snapping via his argument with Marty the chains keeping their crates together which caused them to fall off the cargo ship and become stranded on the island.) despite the fact that the zebra wasn’t entirely to blame for the incident as the other Zoosters and Penguins sorta were to blame for it too and manage to forgive (Semi-relcuantly though, as when the penguins first arrive on Madagascar Gloria becomes tempted with wanting to throttle them and angrily tirade them for starting the film’s whole conflict by putting the idea in Marty’s head that promoted him to run away in the first place and set off the chain of events that lead to them becoming stranded on the island and Alex’s savageness (While also guessing that they took over the boat and defeated its humans who she hoped would help them capture Alex and satisfy his hunger and end his savageness.) but knowing it would be unwise and unfair for her to do so asks the penguins in a sad worried voice instead where the cargo ship’s humans are and Skipper replies by saying, “We killed them and ate their livers” leaving Gloria and Melman horrified believing the Penguins turned savage themselves before Skipper confirms that he was only joking and he and Rico, Kowsalki and Private in reality put the humans all on a lifeboat safely bond for China.) the Penguins for starting the whole incident by putting the idea in Marty’s head of running away to the wild which set off the chain of events that lead to them becoming stranded on the island and Alex’s savageness and the Penguins redeem themselves for it at the end by feeding Alex sushi as substitute for stake which satisfy his hunger and makes him savage no more.
