After forty long years of waiting (many of which I wasn't alive for), NWOBHM legends Saxon have returned to Wichita at long last! The band was last in town on May 2nd, 1984 at the Century II, supporting some of their earliest material. Here we are, four decades and twenty-four studio albums later, and Saxon still reigns supreme!
Opening for fellow British rockers Uriah Heep, the band delivered a most epic set consisting of sixteen Saxon classics, past and present. Featured is a front-row perspective of the hit single Madame Guillotine, released on their latest record 'Hell, Fire And Damnation'; their first studio album to feature former Diamond Head guitarist Brian Tatler!
Unfortunately, Saxon experienced some technical difficulties during the one song I opted to record from the show. This was a power-related issue that may have resulted from the heavy storms rolling through the area last night. However, it does little to take away from the sheer power of the tune as the seasoned veterans simply picked up where they left off. Please enjoy the memories, and thank you for watching!
