Richard C So glad you enjoyed it! My sewing projects sometimes get a little out of hand . . .but that's half the fun! Why not create wild and outrageous things? Also, thank you so much for the horn!

Atomic Topher That's my favourite way to do hand sewing. It doesn't seem as tedious if I can sit in bed and watch old horror films!

Wow, you could give Jean-Paul Gaultier a run for his money. This was an epic project. Good advice to all craftspeople, "Keep working on it until it finally works out." Well done !

Peter Karargiris Thank you! I really think it's true, what I said. Almost all of my large-scale projects take a few twists and turns that I wasn't prepared for while I am working on them . . .but That's the nature of creativity! When you're making something you've never done before, you learn as you go. Then next time you have a broader set of skills to draw knowledge from.

I do the same thing when I’m sewing/crafting things. I put a movie in that I’ve seen before, again same thing, if it’s something I haven’t seen I end up watching the movie and not seeing or whatever I’m supposed to be doing. Nice to know that I’m not the only one. My kids used to ask my how long I had been doing whatever I was doing, I would respond with how many movies I had watched.

I have to say, I really liked your choice of films to work to, you simply cannot go wrong with a bit of Vincent Price or Bela Lugosi to pass the time away, though you really should try and get your hands on the blu ray remastered copies as they are really impressive, and House of Wax is available in its original 3D format! It's like having Vincent in your living room! What's not to love about that? 👍😉

Kenny Logan That sounds wonderful. I had no idea that some of the old movies have been put on Blu Ray! I will have to look into that for sure. Almost all of my Vincent Price, Christopher Lee and Bela Lugosi movies are on VHS

I also like to watch things while pinning up dresses or skirts or doing little bits of hand sewing. Of course I don’t make things as epic as that!

I have a VHS player as well and I make good use of it (when I am feeling really shitty, I'll lay in bed and watch VHS tapes). It has always been a dream of mine to sew. When I am in better health, I'd like to start learning again.

Vampireleniore You absolutely should! I recommend it to everyone. It's something that you never really stop growing or progressing at; there is always more to learn, more to try! I am mostly self-taught by trial and error and it's an amazing way to learn, in my opinion

Heya! Do you also have footage of how you made the structure of the collar. In the video it's like: here are some clothing hangers and here is the finished structure. Would be really interested in creating the structure since I am doing a similiar project :)

No unfortunately I don't. I didn't film any of the in-betweeny steps, as this was never intended to be a tutorial. I can tell you that there was a lot of fiddling around and walking around with it on to see what worked and what didn't. It was quite the trial and error process. Keep at it; I am sure you will figure it out.

@MadameAbsinthe
@MadameAbsinthe 6 жыл бұрын
Velvetmango Thank you so much! I do have an etsy page, but it is not for the crazy gothic sewing projects I show on KZbin. It is more for whimsical patchwork dresses that I make from leftover scraps from making outfits for drag queens. I am planning on listing a few things from the Mad Max Fashion Show on there, though. If you want to check it out, it's under Dark Goat Creations.

AMAZING! thank you so much for this, ive been looking for a tutorial like this for the longest! im trying to make something similar in size. how much yardage of the lace do you reckon you used?
@MadameAbsinthe
@MadameAbsinthe 5 жыл бұрын
It was A LOT. I am guessing it was probably around 7 yards (at least) cut in half lengthwise, so it was more like 14 or 15 altogether.

I honestly don't remember exactly, but I think between the layers of tulle and the lace, it was probably around 15 yards
