Gilson, I've seen you many times with Squeeze from the 80's and I've gotta say you didn't miss a beat and even if you did what the fuck, take care man.

As an adjunct to the Bellson story: when, in 1972 I was a drums/percussion student at Kneller Hall (then the British Army School of Music) I had complimentary tickets to what was called a "drum battle" with Bellson, Buddy Rich, Kenny Clare and a top notch big band at the Lyceum in London. A fabulous event, the memory of which I treasure - especially the mock "fighting" from Louis and Buddy. As it happens, I'm pretty sure that Carl Palmer was there on stage as well, at some point.

Hmmm. Phil Seaman likened drumming in a big band to being in a rowing boat, rowing along towing the Queen Mary. Through a sea of Mars bars!
