my dad is a construction worker and years ago he had to renovate a carport that had four baby pigeons living in it. the owner wanted them removed 🤬 so we adopted them and just kept them in our old chicken coop (that I'd also """rehabilitated""" a crow in before that). they are the sweetest, gentlest animals and I hope I get to have some again some day. I even handled one a lot so I could carry them around on my head (I even snuck them into my room once). they eventually just started taking day trips on their own and one day didn't come back, so I guess I did my job well enough.

Honestly i think pigeons are absolutely adorable, but my godmother says they're a "pest and are ugly", on the other hand my dad also says they're adorable he just wouldn't adopt one.

This makes me so happy! I've been searching for months for a local-ish rescue anywhere near West Michigan. I specifically wanted to rescue a pigeon in need instead of encouraging a breeder. Chicago is actually closer to where I'm at geographically than Detroit! I'm also SO EXCITED that you're offering shipping. It's giving all your birds a much better chance at finding homes. Was working on my Harley & one flew down and landed on it, he wasnt looking that good, he jumped on my shoulder & figured it was someones pet, after a few days Im very attached I think. He lives in my garage & I think he really likes me so Im trying to learn about them. He's so cool! I'm a programmer & he sits on my monitor in the Garage when Im working.

Hi ladys I've had some luck and experience with pigeons but I think the rescue one I have now is pregnant so is there any advice you can give me please if she is and lays. She's very comfortable on really small stand hay plus has food and water and is quite protective. She just doesn't fly at the moment so vulnerable where she was. I can't see any injuries. Somewhere in my state has pigeons for adoptions, and I want one badly. I can work with my school to let me keep one with me, because of my anxiety problems and break downs, so that would be nice. Only problem for me is caging, which isn’t that bad.

I’ve been actually been looking around for pet birds, and pidgins have caught my eye. I’ll probably be doing more research later though and I was wondering if you knew any good websites/ videos that can help out. I’m still in high school and a lot of birds wouldn’t do well staying alone for 6 ish hour a day, so that’s been my main problem. If they need to be with me for that long though I’ll probably keep looking. Great video though!

i have a white racing pigeon staying in my back yard for 3 weeks April 2019, i called Chicago Bird Collision Monitors and (Chicago pigeon pets rescue THAT DID NOT ANSWER THE PHONE ) Chicago Bird Collision Monitors sent a guy out that had a small hand held fish net and he walked around the bird and then left , so much for helping out the pigeon , i called again and it is raining, cold and snowing and i told them that bird needs help and the person a man said no bird is happy in this weather, damn we are not talking about wild birds we have a bird raised in a cage lost and alone, that kind of got me up set THOSE PEOPLE DON'T CARE IF THEY SAY SOMETHING LIKE THAT , MAYBE THEY WOULD L;IKE TO SEE HIM GO TO A PIGEON SHOOT WITH THAT KIND OF TALK , all people do is talk and want money and knowing those kind i am going to have to save that bird myself and yes i am native i know that other then my kind can not care about anything yes i am up set i hate what they do to animals and my country it is all to be used and thrown away to them unless money is part of the game,,

Peter Fastwolf definitely try to catch him and get him inside, you’re right; it’s not safe for him to be out there! If you are able to catch him then I’m sure they could probably help you out more. A lot of rehab facilities can’t do much unless the animal is contained (especially if they are all volunteers w/ day jobs). I’d say catch him and call back to say you have him contained and ready to go!

Hi Peter! our volunteers all work full-time, so we aren't always able to answer the phone. Also, we're really on the adoption side of the operation rather than the rescue side. Sorry your CBCM volunteer wasn't able to help you catch this bird.

@@KatieAnneONeil the first time i even heard of a pigeon racing type was when it showed up in my yard and did not fly away, so i found out more about it and it said they need help they are not wild birds, so far a hawk and a cat has tried to go after him or her and i don't want to see any thing get killed if there are those that tell people it is their job to help theses birds in need, no one has to help me catch a damn thing , it is not my bird , but i will do what i can to save it , i should have known that there are those again that say they help when they don't ,i just got a hold of a net today , a animal hospital is letting me use it, i will save and give that pigeon a new home ( mine )and yes 9 out of 10 people in America could give a damn that is how America works but if i asked for people to shoot it my phone would be ringing off the hook ,,

Peter Fastwolf most wildlife organizations will not go out to locations to help catch, they will only be able to help if the animal is contained. I worked with a wildlife organization for several years and we required that the animals be dropped off to us. We started by going out but we’d almost never be able to catch the animal. I don’t think it’s that they don’t want to help the bird, it’s that they CANT help the bird unless he can be caught.

Hi Maddie! I had a quick question about rats. So I have been looking into getting rats and I want to get two because I’m not sure if I will have all of the time to take care of just one and I REALLY don’t want it to get lonely, but I want to get males, because I have heard males are more affectionate and I really like cuddles while I’m sitting and drawing lol! So I was wondering if you could house two male rats together un-neutered, I’ve done a ton of research and I haven’t found a lot of information on it, and I wanted to get your opinion! Housing males together not desexed is not the best idea in my experience they can become dominant and fight it’s always recommended more to house females together.

Amy not much! These guys were probably hand raised though, a lot of racing pigeons are and pigeons that are raised in captivity don’t have the natural instincts to find food or avoid predators.
