What if the thermostat fails? Wont ur animal just move if it starts getting too hot?. Thermostats can stop working.. does that mean the animal dies if the thermostat fails?... if so maybe we shouldnt use heat mats?...

I'm unsure. When she comes in from foraging and flying around, she sleeps/preens on the bed. It is summer now, but I'm not sure about what winter will bring. So far we just open the door when she wants out, and closing it when she comes in. I would imagine she would prefer to be in the warm home at least part of the time. she either sits on a stool on the porch and calls, or flaps her wings against the door windows if we don't respond right away. She prefers to fly in the door rather than being caught and returned. As we have two dogs, we shake the bedfurs out regularly anyway, so not too worried about dander. We have diapers; but only when we're stuck in the house all day due to weather. She knows the kitchen is the group "Food dish" for the family and is very interested in watching any action in there. Her tiny poops are not appreciated there; so she must wear one if she's watching "the kitchen show." I have made winter coats for my chickens before, but not too sure how she feels about that.

Today, my girlfriend also has 14 dogs (1 pitbull, 1 doberman and 2 Germain shepherd included..holyshit)..so I'm really watching this video.. it's like looking at a mirror of my own future.. ☠️

When I put a heat mat in my BPs setup I ran it unregulated until it got as hot as it was going to get. Then I put the probe over the hottest part of the mat. Hot spots move over time. I set it to 90 and I get temps up to 94 in other spots. I also made a cover for the probe by cutting small PVC pipe in half. Put it over the probe and siliconed it down the siliconed both ends closed so the probe is in it's own little bubble. I did that cuz if the snake sits on the probe it'll cause the probe to read lower than the temp the glass actually is and it'll get hotter than what you set it to

I played with millipedes as a kid. We used to have a lot of rain in the high mountain desert...not so now. We had isopods and millipedes and centipedes. We called them rollie pollies and thousand leggers!

I agree with almost everything you said. I prefer to cook any meats, especially tripe and the like. More for sanitation. Just can't add any salt. But you are right about not pushing your eating choices on any other being. Kudos
