It really depends on the testing sites reference population group. Each testing site has different populations groups. You should check the population group of each site to see. One site may read your results differently or it may not pick up something based on there reference population. My heritage is good for picking up Jewish ancestry, its database is more European. Because of trading and population groups mixing some dna maybe harder to separate. Thats when you can turn to your matches. Ancestry has the largest data base. Its best for picking up dna based in the Americas. 23 and me comes in a close second. Some sites may not pick up certain dna that others found. Living dna is good for picking up north west European dna. Yourdnaportal gives 4 different break downs for each test. There are some asian based test with smaller references populations but they're strickly for picking up Asian dna. Circle dna is good for Asian dna. But i don't see reference populations for Polynesian dna. Of course African ancestry is good for african dna. Family tree dna is good for haplogroups.

A bunch of my close matches on 23andme have Irish, Scottish, and Welsh on MyHeritage.( We are all of Salvadoran descent). The Irish, Scottish, and Welsh is solely Spanish and Portuguese on 23andme. No British and Irish or any other Northern European ancestry. My guess it’s that it’s picking up Celtic-Iberian dna from Spain, Portugal, Southwestern France, etc. Think of Basque Country, Galicia, Asturias etc. It kind of gives you a clue of where in the Iberian Peninsula they were from. The Mesoamerican and Andean category is a mixed category from colonial times. Indigenous, European(Spanish) and West African mix. They updated the description of the category and makes it seem like it’s only Indigenous now.

MyHeritage is just inaccurate especially their trace regions. If people use 23&Me they won't get those results.

I’m afraid to spend my money on this if I’m gonna get Irish Welch and Scottish. My moms father and his sibilings have that hazel and hazel green eyes as well. And my mom grandmother grew up with a lot traditions of those of the Mexicans.

I completely understand. It's interesting though cause my relatives (aunts and cousins) who took the same test have Iberian showing up. Some in large amounts. My Ancestry test just got sent so I can't wait to see what that says.

Get either 23&Me or Ancestry. MyHeritage trace regions are incorrect although their raw dna is very good just the interpretation is not correct. I don't know if possibly they don't have enough reference panels but anyway they need to update their ancestry composition which they haven't done for years.

I think the way they choose to categorize the groups of DNA might be a bit arbitrary and therefore affect what results you get. For example, I find it interesting that they group Chinese & Vietnamese together and then Japanese & Korean as another group. But China is an enormous country and there's a very wide variety of genetic makeup within the Chinese population. There are parts of China that are closer to Korea (and very far away from Vietnam) and the people there would be genetically much closer to Koreans than to Vietnamese. And yet MyHeritage chooses to lump all Chinese with Vietnamese. That's just one example of how I think it might be a bit questionable the way they group the DNA (seems a bit biased to me). Another example is how they group Irish, Welsh, Scottish together, but somehow English is completely separate, lol. Also, why is it that different regions of Europe are in different groups but all of China (which is basically as big as Europe) is in one single group along with Vietnam? Again, very biased groupings, if you ask me.

It’s also weird how the Iberian didn’t show up on here but it was like 15 percent on the 23andme. It’s also crazy how the Americas was 5.8 with ancestry but the Iberian didn’t show up at all, Since with 23 in me, Chamorros have a higher percentage of Iberian than they do indigenous America’s.

I was trying to read into it as and apparently MyHeritage is more focused on Europe. I ordered Ancestry so hopefully I can get better comparison for the European side cause it's way off from 23andme. Everything else seems correct.

This does not make sense. If you are going to have indigenous americas of that high of a percentage, you should have more so with Spanish or Portuguese. Weird how the Iberian was like 15 percent on 23andMe and none with ancestry.

It really doesn't. I left with more questions than information. All the parts of my ancestry makes sense except for my European. I ordered Ancestry so we'll see what that one says.

No. Honestly no. Not everyone from Mexico has Spanish blood. Read some history please. Goes for the majority of Philippine people too. Less than 10 percent of Philippine people mingled with Spanish. Countless historical records. They only changed a lot of their names to Spanish to tax the people of the Philippines. They don’t even speak Spanish.

I actually do. I did 23andme and Ancestry.com and both show Spanish ancestry. I also do have Filipino DNA. I have my Ancestry.com results and will be doing a video in it soon.

Most Filipinos don't have Spanish DNA. The ones that do, get it from Mexican soldiers that were stationed there

@@joemomma1091 Filipino was only 15 percent. Chamorro people have more Spanish and Native American shows up because the islands were smaller and concentrated which is different than Filipinos because there were so many islands compared to Marianas islands. Watch her 23and me and updated ancestry and there’s more accurate make ups.
