We have been told he is a 5 Octave singer for DECADES. But we have never actually SEEN that 5 Octave singer, until NOW. We were amazed when MAYDAY came out and Tim was singing higher than he usually did. Well, now we see him singing REALLY HIGH. This is why7 I say that he has mastered 5 Octaves, and he dabbles with a 6th. So, to me, he is a 6 Octave singer. He is amazing. Great Post, Maddy.
@ZipplyZane2 ай бұрын
This is his falsetto, though. And he does have the hightest falsetto of the group (unless Bastien can go higher--Austin couldn't.) And while MAYDAY is impressive, Tim really impresses in the Bass Gang's "Hooked on a Feeling." I'm not actually sure which one he gets higher in, but his voice is so strong in that one--he's basically their tenor.

Such a fan, in my opinion the best and most musically gifted of the basses out there. His baselines in the background of most of Home Free's catalog are impeccable. The tenor's get all the shine but Tim is holding everything down.

Another great rendition by Tim Foust. Love his new cd with all the older doo-wop songs. His voice really suits this genre of music. We know he can really bring the bass but how about his falsetto? He has a 5 octave range. I have always loved these 2 songs from 1960 "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" by The Shirelles & "Stay" by Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs.

He has a recording of "Can't Help Falling in Love" from several years ago. No video version, just audio. And no copy on his channels. But there's several random copies on YT. He's playing piano and doing just a single voice, no overdubs. But he transitions from low to high range and then back down again. Very creative.

The best Tim singing high is "My Maria" with Austin Brown and Chris Chatham With HomeFree "Mayday" "Thinking Out Loud / Let's Get It On" "Snow Globe" In concert, I have a soft spot for "Ain't Going Down". The long slide up the scale, in parallel with Austin, is SO fun.

There aren't very many out there that have that kind of range. I can only think of a couple more guys that do Geoff Castellucci of Voiceplay has almost identically the same range as Tim and Dimash Kudibergin (sorry if the last name is spelled wrong) has an 8 octave range that starts a little higher than their low end and goes up off the high end of a standard piano. All 3 of these men are insanely talented in their own ways and very deserving of every listen they can get.

Tim's range is about 5 octaves. there was a video showing it. He goes from a low B0 to A5. His lowest tends to hang out in the low G# range but he can go lower.
@lisaseverance67853 ай бұрын
Hard to say his true range really. We all believe 5 octaves. But it came out in an interview that he would often sing high harmony when Austin sang lead. So, I suspect 6. But keep in mind, with bass singers, as they get older, their bass voice gets lower...just think of his voice going lower than we know now!

I don’t listen to too many of the a cappella groups, I found Home Free first, and just never moved on. But I have listened to some of the other bass singers, and I find that I like Tim’s style best because he never seems to use his deep bass for gratuitous reasons. If he sings a very low note it’s in service to the song not just to show off. That’s my opinion anyway.😊

Tim actually has* the highest falsetto of the entire group. This actually isn't that uncommon with basses: they have thick vocal cords, which gives them a lot more cord to play with using hte falsetto mechanism. That said, Tim can get really high in his "regular" voice, too. Check out "Hooked on a Feeling" by the Bass Gang.
