the button activates the trapdoor and the piston below(via redstone) for the sand to fall, the other button also activates the trapdoor and the piston, but instead of opening the floor, the piston pushes the sand up.

so actually just found out their are no observers in my version but the best thing I can give you for a tutorial is this #3x3 Redstone Sand Door - Minecraft (Java 1.19+) I tested this and just put the repeaters on 4 ticks for all if that doesn't work put the 2nd set of repeaters on 2 ticks and top on 4
