To be clear, the 1000 meter diameter is only at the surface. That number can vary MASSIVELY as you go down. There is a section where it is much narrower, and several where it is several times greater. Exploring those nooks and crannies is where many of the most interesting relics are found.

This show is one of my all time favourite fantasy shows. There are very few anime I can remember feeling the emotions I did when watching this. The world building is one of the most interesting I've seen in a while. Just in case you don't know but Movie 3 Dawn of the Deep Soul is very important to watch before S2. It is a canon part of the story. Movie 1 and 2 are just recaps of the first season so can be skipped. Sadly S3 or a new movie is likely to be a few years away as S2 ends pretty much where the source material is at. We get a new chapter around every three months but this can change depending on length but the author generally likes to take his time.

I still haven't seen S2 yet (only the first two episodes of it iirc) but I will watch them alongside you guys as you get there. I love how invested in the setting and world you guys already are. A funny thing that I kinda chuckled about in your discussion was about your question as to why someone would make a child "robot" like Reg... you both had relatively wholesome reasons as to why but when I first thought about it I immediately jumped to the more nefarious reasons as to why they would make him look like that: humans lower their guard around a robot that looks like a child, it can blend into the human society up above and spy on them/annihilate them by surprise if it doesn't look immediately threatening etc.

I think when people say you guys would enjoy the show it’s because you’re quite comfortable with varying and sometimes difficult topics. This show isn’t for everyone and some of the themes are quite dark and some people just don’t enjoy that. I have a friend who felt sick watching episode 1 of Attack on Titan and couldn’t watch the rest as it was too much for him for example, whereas I feel like you guys can experience difficult and sometimes uncomfortable media and try to understand the artistic merit or deeper meaning behind it through discussion, which is something I think applies to this show quite a lot.

The music; amazing. The world; awesome. The story; super interesting. Everyone I know who has seen this show has enjoyed it. My friend who I actually told NOT to watch it ignored my warning because I kept talking about how much I liked it when season 2 came out, and enjoyed it despite not liking the thing that made me tell her not to watch it. I also watched a music person react to the show, and she made me appreciate the soundtrack SO MUCH MORE! As well as she gave me a deeper perspective of the less savory parts of this show.
