I find it interesting that you didn't talk about Riko. Makes since as there isn't a whole lot to dive deep with her but at the same time I find her to to be quite an enigma. Almost as if they are saving her development for a later period.
@danyul-
@danyul- 2 жыл бұрын
As you mentioned there isn't really a lot going on with Riko, I do hope the author does something with her later on, but for now she's a pretty static character which is far from ideal given the themes of the story.

@@danyul- I feel like rikos single minded determination to get to the bottom of the pit is kind of the point of her character, which leads me to believe that the biggest change to her characters motivation and such naturally will occur when they either reach that bottom and find whatever is down there or find a wall that prevents further progress that they just cannot get past. but either way I dont dislike that about her, personally. having a decently likeable character that doesnt really change all that much isnt a bad thing in my eyes because all the others around her have these huge events shaping and changing them in each arc that riko sort of acts like a rock for them to rely on to continue the adventure, ya know?
@danyul-

@@MysticLuka I agree for sure that a lot depends on how things shape up at the end, and with a great cast of characters it's safe to do this, but personally I feel there needs to be some level of payoff for it to work. Good points though.

I kinda like how Riko is the only one who can understand psychos like Wazukian and Bondrewd in the story no lie. Also she is the only person in the story who handle traumatic events calmly or she doesn't get it too much into her and it is maybe the reason why she kinda understand Bondrewd and Wazukian better even after they are trying to kilI them. That's also the reason why on some made in abyss threads, Riko can possibly be Bondrewd when she grows up, there are many similarities between them.

The disrespect to riko in this comments , she's by far the best character in made in abyss and she have amazing character development but it isn't thrown in your face , for example in s1 ep 10 she was able to give reg instructions while she was literally dying and suffering , in the movie when prushka asks her about her goal she said to find her mother but she then realized that more importantly she wants to go with her friends on a journey , she will do anything to get down with her friends even giving her body parts

Wazukyan and Bondrewd are on very different levels of fucked up. Wazu hurt one child repeatedly to save his crew. He didn't go beyond that. Its ambiguous if he wanted to do more than that. Or if he was less sane than he was before when he met riko. Bondrewed casually disregards the consent of others for his curiosity.

I dont think the love of bondrewd towards prushka and all the others were faked just to use them. I believe it was genuine. Reason is that he remembered the name of everyone, even in their blob form. he just puts scientific progression (triumph) over anything else, even above himself. (he is just using the artifacts etc. to help to achive the goal of scientific progression). Im still unsure about the details of wazukyan but i think he was more selfish.

Spoilers: I agree and that’s why I love Bondrewd’s character so much. He’s not just the one dimensional mad scientist that tricks children for his own gain; he has depth to him and in the end, despite all the terrible thing he’s done, he still cares for everyone and all the things he does are actually quite selfless (his experiments are to make progress for the abyss to save everyone from the 2000 year phenomenon)
@gardennormie2859

Not only that I also find bondrewd very interesting we even see that he turned himself into a hollow first before trying it on anyone else And how instead of using children that had somewhat of a future ahead of them, he used children from the slums ones that were on the verge of dying and no importance he gave them a chance to be something more.. even in blob form he still considers them to be better than how they were before. Bondrewds love is not fake it's real and that's what i find to be the most terrifying apart of him.

Regardless of pedo bait and fetishes, the world building even powers through that. Imagine creating a world so mesmerizing, so realistic and captivating... for your fetish inserts to fit realistically. I commend the artistic talent more than anything else. I've read both the manga, and watched the anime. This anime is full of fetishes, but somehow grasps world building and story telling narratives more than 90% of the writers that come out of modern day anime. Made in abyss is both unique in its depravity, and a milestone in its narrative. 10 out of 10, regardless of pedo bait.

Super late to the party, but something interesting I thought I'd add to a comment you made. I'm a manga reader, but I'd been watching Made In Abyss S2 weekly with an anime only friend. When Wazukyan was first introduced, and kept pushing forward, and repeating *That's great*, my buddy though that Wazukyan eventually becomes Bondrewd. This made him a bit disappointed, since Bondrewd's mystery and origins were a big part of what made Bondrewd my friend's favourite villain. Then we clearly find out that Wazukyan isn't Bondrewd. My buddy then was super intrigued, since both Wazukyan and Bondrewd have some similarities wiht their insatiable drive for progress/advancing, and the ends justify the means mentality. He started analysing both by juxtaposing them. Just an interesting tidbit that your comment reminded me of. I just discovered your channel recently and am flabbergasted you don't have more subs. Your content is great.

Glad you like the content! I like reading through comments so don't worry about commenting on whatever, whenever. Never crossed my mind about him potentially becoming Bondrewd at any point as I always just assumed he had become a village resident and changed to become a Hollow, which he had. Interesting thought from your friend though. Speculation gives a lot of life to a watch.
