Made-In-India Light Tank Zorawar to boost India’s firepower in Ladakh, check details

In a major boost to Indian forces deployed opposite China in Ladakh, premier defence research agency DRDO and private sector firm L&T are at advanced stages of trials of the indigenous Light Tank Zorawar. Defence Research and Development Organisation chief Dr Samir V Kamat today reviewed the progress made in the project at the Larsen and Toubro plant in Hajira in Gujarat. Developed in a record time of two years for high altitude areas of Ladakh, the tank is testimony to Indian progress in indigenous manufacturing. DRDO and L&T have integrated USVs n loitering munitions in the tank learning lessons from the Russia and Ukraine conflict. The light tank Zorawar with 25 tonnes weight and it is the first time a fresh tank has been designed and made ready for trials in such a short time. 59 of these tanks will be provided to the Army initially and it will be a front runner for the major programme of 295 more of these armoured vehicles. The Indian Air Force can supply two tanks at a time in the C-17 class transport aircraft as the tank is light and can be run at high speeds in mountain valleys. The trials are expected to be completed in the next 12-18 months and be ready for induction. Even though the first ammunition is coming from Belgium, the DRDO is ready to develop the ammunition indigenously.

​@@motivationguru1107 first of all these tanks are made to counter light Chinese tanks and combat vehicles are ok but they doens't have fire power like light tanks specially the heavier shells fired by tanks We have our main battle tank at LoC but they aren't good in speed compared to light one due to heavy armour..these lights tank can move fast like combat vehicles and have a fire power like main battle tanks I hope u get it now

At this growth rate of the nation we need hundreds of private companies to invest and develop modern age weapons and technologies , such as tanks , missiles , rifles , UAV, rockets , aerospace technologies , combat vehicles , cyber warfare etc. also the need of fighter jets , and arial warfare machines are needed . we need to invest billions of dollars in order to achieve these . If successful the result will be tremendous for the nations next 2-3 decades .

It is astounding that Indian Army didn't know that they wanted Light tanks at high altitude despite having access to those high altitude areas in India itself. Only when IA saw Chinese light tanks they realized, they also need light thanks. If this is the case with Indian military then get ready for more surprises from china. Cummins for the first few batches. After that the Engine developed in house will be certified and ready hopefully. Germany refused engine sales at the last moment.

Greatest Military Commander of Modern India 😎🇮🇳😎💪 Zorawar Singh (1784-12 December 1841) was a military general of the Dogra Rajput ruler, Gulab Singh of Jammu. He served as the governor (wazir-e-wazarat) of Kishtwar and extended the territories of the kingdom by conquering Ladakh and Baltistan. He also boldly attempted the conquest of Western Tibet (Ngari Khorsum) but was killed in battle of To-yo during the Dogra-Tibetan war. In reference to his legacy of conquests in the Himalaya Mountains including Ladakh, Tibet, Baltistan and Skardu as General and Wazir, Zorawar Singh has been referred to as the "Napoleon of India", and "Conqueror of Ladakh".
