Incredible video captures, the beauty of street scenery with pleasant atmosphere is clearly exposed and well shown. Wonderful tour as always, thanks for sharing this wonderful inspiration. 💖 Greetings from Turkey 🇹🇷🙂
This is why I love youtube, for content such as yours! I'm half Taiwanese and Half Canadian and struggled with my identity my whole life. Thanks for sharing your experience, helps biracial people like myself to see the shared feelings :)

Oh my 2-year-old child holds triple citizenship TW, US and Turkish and seeing comments like yours make me a bit upset tbh. If there was a single most important thing that you can recommend to a parent of a multinational child, what would it be?

My wife, before we met, worked in Taiwan for a year in a school teaching English. She said the children have studies all day long, it’s very rigorous. She loved the food markets and being able to get all sorts of food from the vendors. Now that I’ve seen your video I have a good idea of what she experienced. 😊

I was born in the US, but my heart is in Taiwan. I was lucky enough to grow up speaking Taiwanese, and visiting almost every year until high school. I've been back several times as well as an adult and I am so glad that the world is finally starting to appreciate our beautiful homeland.

We went to HS together and I just stumbled on this video. Glad I did! My husband is half Taiwanese & half Dominican and always talks about what primary school was like in Taiwan and how much he stuck out like a sore thumb with his tan skin and curly hair lol. I also now understand his love for noodle soup 🍜 😂 I would love to go visit one day!
@DotsonaMap4 ай бұрын
Ah hey Sindy! Been forever. I didn't know your husband is Taiwanese! What part is he from? We probably had really similar experiences haha. And it seems like Providence now has way more good Asian places and noodle soups than when we were young, so that's a good thing! Y'all should definitely visit Taiwan, you would love it :)

Love your video! I am also MIT and proud of it. I left Taiwan when I was 15, and visited only 3 times during my working career. Now I am retired. I just completed a round the island bike tour led by Giant bikes. I will come back this year once again to enjoy the fruits and excellent seafood.
The Taiwanese are soooo friendly… I saw the massive difference in attitude and mindset when we stayed in Japan and Taiwan… Taiwan is better

In comparison to the Japanese and Koreans, Taiwanese are more relaxed. For an ordinary citizen, Taiwanese is less stressful in daily life and more friendly to foreigners in actual ---- to all foreigners, not merely the white people.

I enjoyed your video. It's great you had so much footage from your childhood. My wife is from Taiwan and have visited there 3 times in the past 20 years. We have 3 children, 2 in college. (My 19 year old daughter is actually there visiting now.) I'm trying to talk my wife into moving to Taiwan in a few years when I retire. We''ll see how that goes.

I'm thrilled to have come across your video - such an incredible documentary! It resonated deeply with me as I can relate. I moved from Taiwan to the U.S. at 12 in the summer of 1992. Returning after 12 years was surreal; my hometown, Taixi, in Yunlin county, had changed, yet some places remained familiar. Despite the wear and tear, I felt a profound sense of peace and belonging, even among unfamiliar faces. Now in my 40s, acclimated to U.S. lifestyle, every visit to Taiwan, especially in Taixi, my soul would always remind me that this is home. Thank you again for sharing.

What a touching vignette, Dottie. Thank you for sharing that. I got emotional watching it, as I'm also "M.I.T" but has spent the last 45 years of my life on Canada's West Coast (only visited Taiwan once 10 years ago), having left Taiwan when I was 9. And like you, I know there's a very deep part of me that really is Taiwanese/Chinese and that will always stay with me. I definitely feel the duality that is in me, part Taiwanese and part Canadian. I very much enjoy your videos and adventures, very glad to have discovered your channel. All the best to you in 2024!

I am Half Japanese and seeing your (& Lenza's) Vlog, reminds me a little bit of being born in Tokyo, Japan and the wonderful memories I kind of remember almost 59 years ago before moving to Okinawa then back to Japan then finally to the United States in 1974, as a kid whose father was in the U.S. Air Force. Thanks again Dottie and Lenza. Stay Save on your folks traveling journeys. My sincere condolences about your dear dad. 😪

Beef noodle soup is also my goto when I go to back once in a blue moon. AND NO SHOT tha that is the same primary school I went to! I totally get what you mean about the vibe. When I left Taiwan I was 5 and there were no MRT or anything like that. would've been like 20 odd years til I went back next and god it was so different yet at the same time super nostalgic. My gran lived in hualien and even though it did change there quite a bit it's still much less developed and definitely reminded me of "home". I don't know if you've ever felt the same way as me but for someone who's had a bit of a identity cultural crisis. Going back to Taiwan totally fixed that for me.

Hey I grew up in Zhongli/Pingchen as well! Moved to Seattle when I was 14 in 1996 and now living in Vancouver Canada. I came across your cats in Istanbul video last year, then the algorithm fed me the Berlin video today (went last year and loved the nightlife culture there) which led me to this video, totally had no idea you were half Taiwanese. Can't believe you didn't go back for 23 years, I definitely appreciate that I went through the early part of childhood in Taiwan, which shaped who I am and have a broader worldview, but also glad to get out of it as well, if you know what I mean. Just wanna give a shout out to your guys' quality production value and editing, digging into the culture and chatting with the locals, it's more interesting than most travel "vlogs" out there.

Very moving- glad I found your channel, not sure why you don’t have more subscribers, very high quality. I found connection to this vid and you because my mother was born and raised in the Philippines and married (age 32 at the time) my father (age 57 at the time) mail order bride style in order to get to the US. She was the only one of her family that left so all my mother’s side is still over there. I was born in Portland and we would travel back to the Philippines every few years all my life. My father died at age 79 when I was 21 in ‘03 so seeing the dedication to your father at the end made me emotional. I often wonder what my life would have been like if my mother would have never left her home country and I was raised over there like all my cousins that struggle daily and envy me and my life here in the US… thanks again and keep up your excellent work

Hello, the visuals in your video are spectacular. I have a question I believe you can answer better than anyone else. I'm Turkish, and my wife is Taiwanese. We're currently living in the US, and our 2-year-old child holds triple citizenship. We're excited about his future, but we're unsure about the best educational path. Should we start our child's schooling in Taiwan and then transition to the US, or would it be more beneficial to complete his education in one country from start to finish? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Keep up with the exceptional work, we wish you the best.

Beautiful and mesmerizing temple ritual. Reminds me more of the dances and rituals of Indonesia and Thailand than of mainland China. To what extent is Taiwanese culture a product of Southeast Asian culture? Anyway, a wonderfully produced documentary. You are thoughtful, curious, and open - both probing and playful. I can't think of a better ambassador for Taiwan, China and the US, all together.

Wonderful video! I left Taiwan 55 years ago, at the age of 12. I married a Taiwanese woman six years ago. I've been back every year for the past seven years. Here's something you might not appreciate, given your age. In 2020, I accompanied my in-laws on a Saturday to the local school to watch them cast their ballots for the presidential election. I became so emotional. Within a short time frame (from the perspective of political changes), Taiwan went from a dictatorship to a vibrant democracy. Long live Taiwan!

I never went thru schooling in Taiwan (I did in Singapore, which can also be rigorous there) but I recall visiting Taiwan in the mid 90s and learned that my cousin had school Monday to Saturday and only had Sunday off. I always thought that was wild
