I was so happy when I found the book referencing turnips in BG3! Really nice section about Uncle Gerhardt, very comprehensive. Though I'd love BG3 linking up to the Jansens' plot, I think it is mostly coincidental.

Jan Jansen is pronounced as Yan Yansen in BG2. There's probably a connection between using the Swedish way of pronouncing J and loving rutabaga aka. Swedish turnip aka. swede.

@@HarbsNarbs Yeah, I can imagine that not killing trolls. IIRC, when you down a troll the game removes the killed troll and replaces it with a new creature which looks like a troll on the floor and which has completely different stats in terms of resistances. If that "troll on the floor" creature isn't killed in time it, too, gets despawned and the game will spawn a fresh troll.

Have you played BG2? Just curious because his name is said like Yan Yansen, and he says it literally all the time when you click on him. I'm not judging, because honestly I didn't know for the longest time either because I never really used Jan in my party

I always thought that voice bark was just an Easter egg referencing the real life poem called Yon Yonson. But apparently the companions also pronounce it Yon? I didn't remember the party banter where others pronounce his name.

@@HarbsNarbs Yep the name is consistently pronounced Yan Yansen in the game VA. It was in the old manual too (ahh the nostalgia for that ringbound behemoth). Didn't want to be "that guy" but thought you might want to know
