“In truth, happiness is just a state of mind, a state where your desires are satisfied. It’s very simple. For example, when a hungry person eats, when a thirsty person drinks, when a cold person is warmed, when a tired person has a place to rest, they will all feel happiness. But happiness doesn’t last forever. It only stays for a short time. Once you are used to that happiness, you won’t be able to feel it any longer. So the majority of the people who feel very unhappy, in truth, have food to eat, water to drink, warm clothes to wear, and a roof over their heads. They feel unhappy because they’ve forgotten what made them unhappy before. So if you want to be happier longer, you have to know what sadness is.”

We seek what is familiar because there is less room for fear or the unexpected. I have been fighting depression, anxiety, and OCD for years and it is still an uphill battle. I may not know who you are or who needs to hear this but progress is progress no matter how small or big it is. If you finished something you needed to do, learned something new, or even just got through the day a little easier, give yourself some credit and just take it at your own pace.

@Jayempee3 жыл бұрын
Ok so I'm fully on-board with the method of achieving personal happiness explained in this video, however the problem that isn't brought up a lot when people say "follow your dreams" or "anything you want is possible" is that a lot of people don't have a singular goal or accomplishment in mind that they will actively attempt to acquire, or even a clear direction for improvement. Most people often just want some kind of deviation from being stuck in their current monotonous daily life, but when you've developed your unhealthy lifestyle into such a routine it's incredibly hard to break out of the reoccurring easy habits or even envision yourself having any possibility to move forward, due to the bleak cynical perspective born from an experience-less and stagnant environment. It also doesn't help that there are boundless options for careers out there, most of which require years of dedication to attain even the most basic status of a profession, and i can infer a lot of people likely feel impartial towards the majority of careers available, since to them it's just an involuntary component to living, and would feel overwhelmed at trying to decide a single one to focus their efforts and attention for, considering they could very well have an epiphany later down the line that they regret their long-term choice and wish they could reverse and try again.
@100lovenana3 жыл бұрын
That's the thing about life: We have to take risks. If you fear you could regret your choices after accomplishing them, then take that risk. That's living. It's best to take risk instead of staying in the same place doing nothing for the rest of your life, that isn't living, that's just "existing". If you're CONSTANTLY afraid of life and everything it offers, then you're literally never gonna do anything ever. I'm speaking from experience: Fear (and anxiety) is a wall, we have to decide whether to climb it or stay on one side for eternity. Maybe what you find on the other side isn't what you expected, but it will be SOMETHING, something different that maybe can lead you to other options and other paths. You'll never know until you actually try. It's just like what the captain from Wall-e said: "I don't want to "survive"! I wanna live!", and this quote becomes even more meaningful in Pixar's Soul, there's no point in having a "purpose" if you're not enjoying the good things in life, even if they're small.
@Jayempee3 жыл бұрын
@@100lovenana You're not wrong, but my overall point was that a lot of people don't KNOW what risks or decisions they want to or should make, which directly results in them not changing at all
@100lovenana3 жыл бұрын
@@Jayempee I get it. There's this fake idea that's enforced about adulthood and jobs that once you make a decision in work or anything else it becomes permanent for the rest of your life. That's actually wrong, you CAN change to other options as an adult, you CAN change jobs and professions, people have been doing that for a long time, but the system pressures you into deciding something from very early on. That's what causes people to think they don't know what they want. Nobody truly knows what they want at the age of 18, we change our opinions with time, so forcing people at that age to make a "permanent" choice is more harmful than anything. There's an entire control structure and rules at fault here.

Bro, I am literally speechless: this video is just amazing, really. You said all the things I would have said if a would have ever created a video with this "topic", but in a better way. You explanations are simply amazing, they are just right to the point! Keep up the good work!

I know it's not exactly a cartoon but I would love to see you talk about Celeste and it's message about anxiety. I know many others have but I still think it would be a neat video to see ^^

Teen Titans Go is one of those shows where they teach the audience in the wrong ways. Like I remember that one episode where Robin was like, "DAYDREAMING LEADS YOU TO DISAPPOINTMENT" and brings a dumpster out of nowhere. Absolute NONSENSE

Other people react to you acting all different from the others and its sad that The normal adult is Squidward in this situation because thats what they think is 'Normal' and some people being themselves living their life the way they wanted to is Spongebob.

this is also the whole deal with Cinderella, which helped me in my life a fuck ton while playing kingdom hearts birth by sleep surprisingly, i was in a dark place and super depressed but the message was so wholesome I just had to genuinely try it and since that day everything I've dreamed of actually happened and also happiness isn't an achievement but a temporary state of mind, so it comes and goes, ups and downs, highs and lows, so just believe in yourself and be more confident.

I've been binging on your videos and I gotta say, these feel good videos really help me have a better outlook on life. I've been feeling down for a long time and just watching these videos keep me from going any lower. I'm usually a more optimistic person but man is it hard to stay that way. Always feeling like you're alone, wondering if things will get better. Then on top of that, putting up a front that you're okay when really you're not. These feel good videos help. Keep making more.

I think the episode where Squidward gets electrocuted and becomes a nice guy and suddenly everything starts working out for him is also a good example

Just wanted to thank you. It's sometimes difficult to express your own emotions and/or to support someone else. These videos have helped me to communicate with someone with depression. BTW I have my degree in psychology and you've been a big help. Appreciated.
