Hi Mike. Another nice walk. I haven’t been in Curral das Freiras for over 20 years. Next time in Madeira I need to take my wife and kid there. That place looks a bit different nowadays.

Nice one Mike. We're taking our walking boots with us when we go next week so we can do more of the levada and off the beaten track walks. The ponta sao lourenco was one of our favourites.

Very nice. But just for clarity and exactness' sake, the Portuguese word for Valley is Vale, not Curral. I can see why Curral das Freiras is generally translated into English as Nuns Valley because, obviously, it is a valley, but Curral in Portuguese means the same as a Corral in American English (and Kraal, in Afrikaans), i.e. an animal enclosure.

Hello Ahmad, ha ha a good question, apart from English I can get by with a little bit of Spanish, French and German and I'm very much hoping to improve my few words of Portuguese each time I visit. I'd love to speak more that the basics in Turkish, all in all I like to have a go where I can. How about yourself? Best wishes to you friend.
