"We are invading our minds with everyone else's ideas which isn't always necessary. It can be very inspiring but also can just stop you from processing what you are thinking or going through"- wise words. Thank you 😉

We adopted a dog a few months ago and one of the best things for my mental health has been getting out once or twice a day for dog walks. I never, ever listen to anything on my walk and I don’t look at my phone - I love just observing all the beauty of nature around me (like Spring flowers at the moment) and listening to the sounds of birds etc. Actually truly being in nature is a wonderful thing 💚

Also, being present for your dog and making sure you always know what´s going on is responsible dog ownership. I only take my phone with me to take the occasional photo of my dog, just because she is so darn cute

Thank you so much for this video, I found it so helpful. The video ended up being the opposite of what I expected - I thought it would be a polished "perfect" day and as a fellow perfectionist I crave watching that stuff but it's not always good for me. I loved when you said "I can't go to the farm shop today because I"m one human being and I can't be perfect." I often tell myself "I can't be everything to everyone at all times". I too dream of having a locally sourced organic plastic free life or minimal consumption. But I work lots of hours in a hospital, am stressed about exams and drive a petrol car because that's what I can afford right now. I have burned out many times too because of aiming for unrealistic expectations. And you know what, sometimes just buying 1 thing that week that's packaging free is progress. A few years ago there was a huge trend amongst eco/slow loving influencers to present perfectionist and I am loving the trend towards realism. Thanks for this Madeleine, I hope that whatever you're going through in your personal lives becomes easier over time. Lots of love x

I recently learned soothing about choosing paint colors that helped me a lot. All paint colors have an LRV (light reflective value) number. The higher the number, the more light the color reflects light back into the room. For example, a Lrv of 50 reflects 50% light back into the room. In a space with little natural light we need to choose paint with an LRV of more than 60. I recently moved to a new condo & this info was incredibly helpful & I hope it will b for you too. Love your color choice!!

I really enjoy your videos. After watching them I'm immediately inspired and I love the fact that you keep everything realistic. 'The perfect day ' is not always what we see in the media-it can just be when we're able to achieve those little goals and do the small things that make us happy! ☺Thank you!

I needed that chat around perfectionism and food shopping today, thanks for sharing. I am currently struggling with similar pressure around this exact topic, and I also just don’t have the time or energy for the ideal scenario right now with everything else I have going on. There is no shame in ordering food online when needed, and not sticking to the “perfect” criteria for meal planning when I can’t manage it. We can’t be perfect all the time, we can only do our best 😊

I found your channel about 5 years ago, it's odd how a stranger can bring you so much inspiration and motivation! I recently decided I want to start a KZbin channel kinda similar to yours, I would love to see a video of how you started, what you learned throughout the years, what equipment you use, etc (If that's something that you are comfortable sharing of course)

I’m not a perfectionist or a worrier…I did a bit when I was young but soon realized no matter how hard you try the bigger plan can and will overtake you in a flash. So I just try to stay in rhythm with nature and barometer of my environment and enjoy my zone

Thanks for sharing this. It's so nice to see someone share a more realistic "day in my life" style video. Also, Roxy is so cute! When she was trying to take the shoe on your walk and you said "Can't take the shoe, gotta leave that behind" I just imagined her thinking "But mum, that's my walking shoe" lol

I feel like I struggle with a lot of the same things - forgetfulness, needing to write things down, etc, but in my case it's more to do with ADHD. Finding a planner and a schedule that works with how my brain functions just made life and uni so much easier. I really like the lighter blue, it's almost like an eggshell blue (at least on my screen), hopefully it'll help with the darkness on the northern side.

I totally relate to you! I had burnout 2 years ago - work related and I am also a perfectionist and put pressure on myself to do everything. Like you I now try to stay in bed a little longer in the morning and I get out regularly for nature walks. I also know when I’m getting stressed and slow down and strip things back. Nature is a wonder healer! Lovely vlog as always, you are awesome I really enjoy your vlogs ❤

It’s been a billion degrees for three months straight in Texas, so I’m so so so ready for autumnal weather!! We’ve been embracing every little part of autumn that we can until the weather decides to cool down, like iced PSL and a few decorations around the house. I am ready to wear sweaters and drink hot coffee though! 😆

I’m looking for the recipe for the yummy mushroom dish you made at the end. Thank you for your organizational tips. I get organized, overly so, and then gradually come undone again. So hard to be consistent. I do absolutely believe in the 10 minutes of light each morning. Even in the winter when I go to work in the dark and come home in the dark, I try to take a little break in my job as a nurse and step outside for a few minutes when the sun finally comes up.

Humans evolved in, and still need, nature. Using no headphones enables you to have that pure relationship with nature, which is not "doing nothing". It's doing a very important thing for your health and well being. Well done, to build more of that into your day!

I would leave the lines as some texture for the walls. It would give it a more real lived in look and not so bland and flat. Years from now you'll see them and remember the renovation and be proud of all the work you put it.

Madeleine, if you don’t have a landline phone, I would suggest keeping your phone near you/in your room when going to bed. Especially when home alone. You can put it messages on silent and even put it in a drawer and ignore it. That’s what I’d do at bed time. But God forbid something were to happen and you need to make an emergency phone call, you wouldn’t have your phone anywhere near you. I hate to even put that out there, but, it is something to think about.

I find the Hurtta Training Vest ECO a really good jacket for dog walks at this time of year. It's sleeveless, has all the pockets you could ever dream of and is also somewhat waterproof. It's great because it's heavy enough to be an extra layer when it's a bit chilly but sleeveless and light enough to not make you overheat when it's warm/there is no wind! It also has a huge pocket on the back that can easily fit a jumper in if you get too hot or are worried you might get cold. It's made from recycled materials too 😃

Just some positive feedback among all the "that sponsorship was too long"-comments: can we talk about how perfectly you embedded it when you were using photoshop to visualize the colour on the wall!? I have to admit that I was a little annoyed as well at some points, but I understand that that is what makes your job possible - and just wanted to point out how smooth that portion of the sponsorship felt because it was there, but felt more natural than some other parts. Very well done, Maddie!

I’m breaking down my tasks that I have to do each day, my calendar and Trello just has down dates/briefs/details. My planner allocates when I’m doing the tasks, and breaks those tasks down. It really helps with productivity and actually getting things done! Works amazingly for me! There are quite a few books that share these kinds of methods for increased productivity

I soooooo relate to the anxiety/self guilt/pressure around going to the grocery store and meal planning specifically. Other errands I can get done just fine, but some weeks it’s still so hard to do what might be a basic task for others. A video I saw with Ruth Anne Zimmerman gave me a lot of peace. She talked about when you do have the extra energy, to put things up in the freezer to allow yourself to have those bad days and not feel guilty about them. 🤍 I really value your thoughts around mental health and the way you’re open about your struggles. Thank you so much for sharing.
