Madeline was my all time favorite comedian, and her performance in Blazing Saddles was arguably one of the best comedic performances of all time. Mel knew it too, that's why he cast her in Young Frankenstein. She was a talent lost too soon. She was a beautiful young woman and talented years before her performance in Blazing Saddles. I'll always love and miss you Madeline.

And I always thought that a Jewish woman playing the implied part of a Nazi darling (Marlene Dietrich) was one of Mel's greatest's double entendre.
@nunolip8 ай бұрын
Marlene Dietrich was a staunch anti-nazi, she refuse them already in 1936, and campaigned very actively against them!
@desecration1715 ай бұрын
Marlene didn't have much choice over who her fans were but she was anti-war and anti-nazism. Her family on the other hand ***whistle innocently*** What I haven't been able to confirm is if Madeline's character was named after the song "Lili Marleen" which was a popular song sung by Deitrich. It could just be coincidence but I doubt it. Brooks was fond of easter eggs.

Magnificent...my wife had never seen the film (I'm 67 and she a year younger). I cannot remember the last time she giggled and laughed as much. Yes if was offensive, irreverent etc. But with Brooks at the helm what could you expect. Blazing Saddles still has legs and hasn't slowed one iota. It's tragic that the snowflakes of the WOKE = BEDWETTERS would condemn this classic. Pathetic generation of entitlement, I know what I would like to do with them. FYI I have many friends who play for the other team so as to speak and different ethnicities and they love BZ too...just look at the cast.🤣PS Maddie, thank you, we love and miss you.
