DINNER or SUPPER? (Brunch?)

Well, in England: Dinner is from 7.00 pm to 8.30 pm; Supper is from 10:00/10:30 pm to 11.30 pm or rather after a show, a film, a musical comedy with dancing etcetera. I am Italian. My favourite meal is undoubtely dinner at San Marco's square in Venice, Italy. A

In my country (Syria) we eat 3 meals the breakfast lunch and dinner ,the breakfast and the dinner almost the same :usually it is eggs boild or scrambled. Olive tomato ,cucumber , labnah(kind of dried yogurt) homemade jam ,butter, makdous( stuffed eggplants with garlig,salt homemade chili pepper paste and nut ,their is a special way to do it )tea arabic bread ,homemade cheese and we do not have certain time for the breakfast but before 10 o'clock, the lunch is a heavey arabic meal with salad and soup and ayran( it is yogurt we mix it with water and bunch of salt) and arabic bread , and after that we drink tea ,and it is between 13:00/ 14:00 o'clock ,and the dinner after 20:00 it is the same breakfast meal ,after that we eats fruits or arabic sweets. Here in Argentina the most important meal of the day is at lunchtime, el almuerzo. It is always warm food, like for example noodles and meat, chicken, grilled meat, etc. Because of that it is my favourite. At breakfast we just have some coffee with milk and croissants, or something like that, sometimes it could include some light sandwiches but not very often. At 5 or maybe 6 pm we have a meal called merienda in Spanish. It is generally the same kind of food as in breakfast. The dinner, la cena, as you mentioned, is commonly late at night, usually between 9 pm and 11 pm. t is more variable. Some people like just a light dinner, maybe sandwiches or some pizza, but others prefer foods similar or even the same as those in a lunch.

Thank you! Mark. That is very helpful. Previously I called the name of meals breakfast, lunch and dinner according to time sequence. But I do remember it called evening meal -supper, in our textbooks of middle school. Normally we eat dinner in the evening, and dinner is a big meal as we can have more time to prepare it.

The reason is because there is more time to prepare it, we usually serve the traditional foods at dinner time and dinner as that is time I'm able to spend with my family discuss my day and listen to them about their day. And another reason is because i eat it as i watch some amazing English channel on KZbin such as Mad English TV, TEDx Talks and English music as well. Many videos show and English songs awesome! it increases my appetite and makes the food taste 100x better, i don't know if this is my wrong habit, but that's why I look forward to dinner every day!
