Hi, Aneka. Thank you so much for this clear instructional video! May I please ask you to show how to change a neckline with facing but for women with narrow shoulders. Everything I sew is gaping at the neckline and although I read books about fit changes I cannot visualize how I SHould go about it. Would hugely appreciate it.

Or just the big companies (Vogue, Butterick etc.). Have you tried my free Copen pattern? I am just very interested, because I have spent a long time making my pattern block (base size and grading rules) and basing it on the problems I have with my in-person customers. One of them being shoulders are too large on a lot of patterns. So I would be really keen to know how you get on. I will still plan to film a tutorial for narrow shoulders don't worry! Of course, I have a video on neckline gaping coming up next week / week after this should help. You will need to make sure that you stabilise the neckline, once the fabric has been cut out. Use fusible iron on interfacing around the neckline. I hope the video will help. Aneka

Wonderful video . Really interesting. I have a pattern where the v neckline is far too low so would like to lift that. Do you recommend taking this back to round neck and then redraft? Hi Jay, really pleased you enjoyed the tutorial. You don't need to take the neckline back to a round next first. You can simply raise the front of the V by the amount you want. Depend on how the button placket/front is drafted you will obviously need to replicate this higher up. Then connect the new higher V to the shoulders. You will also need to draft the facing or any pieces that finish the neckline in the same way. Does this make sense? Feel free to send me pictures on IG of Facebook if you want me to check it. Aneka

I dont want zipper on ky back...is there any way to cut back on a fold...as a back part is little curvy from waist line...if i cut seam allowance and then cut it it is not straight...can u plz help?

Yes you can cut the centre back on the fold. You will have to straighten the centre back of the the pattern to do this. Some patterns are curved at the back because a small dart to help the back of the pattern fit into the spine better, you can add this amount into the back waist darts or you can leave it out, it will make the pattern slightly looser at the waist. 3-22-18 To Made To Sew Good info. Please do a video on fitting pants. I'm short my pants are always baggy in the crotch area. Do I shorten the crotch length or the crotch depth on the pattern?

Hi Sandra, trousers are a tricky one, because it is often hard to work out which figure needs to be amended. I would measure your crotch all around, this is from front waist to back waist (through the legs). A most glamorous measurement! Measure your inseam to the floor and outseam waist to the floor, the difference between these is your crotch depth. Compare the crotch depth to the pattern first to see if you need to make an amendment? Then you can measure the crotch length on the pattern (stitching line around the crotch) and compare this to your crotch length. Depending on your shape you may need a different shaped curve at the front and back of the crotch too. Does this help slightly for the time being? Aneka x
