Hi Friends in this video we are going to see how to make Madhampatty rangaraj arisi paruppu sadham recipe in tamil lunch box recipe
Arisi Paruppu Sadam is a traditional South Indian dish made with rice and lentils. It's simple, nutritious, and flavorful. Here’s a recipe to make Arisi Paruppu Sadam:
Ingredients:
1 cup rice
1/2 cup toor dal
2 tablespoon ghee (clarified butter) or oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon channa dal
1 teaspoon urad dal
2 teaspoon fennel seeds
1 inch cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon jeera
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1-2 green chilies
1 sprig curry leaves
1/4 cup small onion
1 tomato
1 teaspoon sambar masala
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
3 cups water (adjust as needed)
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions:
Rinse the Rice and Dal:
Wash the rice and toor dal together under running water until the water runs clear. Soak them together for about 15-20 minutes. Drain the water after soaking.
Prepare the Tempering:
Heat ghee or oil in a pressure cooker or a heavy-bottomed pot.
Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
Add cumin seeds, green chilies, channa dal, urad dal and curry leaves. Saute for a few seconds until the spices release their aroma.
Saute Onions and Tomatoes:
If using onions, add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and mushy.
Cook Rice and Dal:
Add the soaked and drained rice and toor dal to the pot.
Mix in turmeric powder and salt.
Pour in 3 cups of water and add 1 tsp smabar masala
If using a pressure cooker, close the lid and cook for 3-4 whistles on medium heat. If using a pot, cover and cook until the rice and dal are soft and mushy, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
Final Touches:
Once the pressure releases naturally (if using a pressure cooker), open the lid and mix the rice and dal gently.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
Serve:
Serve Arisi Paruppu Sadam hot with a dollop of ghee on top. It pairs well with appalam (papadam) and pickle or a simple vegetable stir-fry.
