Shows everyday life in 1945 Madison Indiana. I think the purpose of this film was for the U.S. War Dept. to show "others" everyday life in america. Why we would want to do so is unclear to me.

Madison Indiana has the largest contiguous historical district in the U.S. Block after block of lovely old homes. It is STILL a hidden gem/

Back in the 80's and early 90's when I was a rock guitar slayer I played at the "Electric Lady" in Madison... I have very fond memories of that time of my life! :)

I am born here after WW2, 1952 in fact, grew up i Hanover, moved to Madison, the only name sounds familiar is Datillo, the architecture and swimming and farmers market are sweet, the river is filthy ….never liked living there, left for Oregon at an early age the coal burning smokestacks and bible thumping don’t agree with me

That church still stands, and still holds services. I love madison, but it's definitely not so simple anymore. It's turned into a drug Capitol.

I read that this film was produced as a war propaganda film to show how diverse cultures could live together in harmony. I read this back in 2005. I was born in this lovely town of Madison, Indiana 58 years ago.

This film was originally listed as 12 minutes long. It has been edited, but still manages to get one brief moment of reality. As you listen to the warm and fuzzy dialogue, note the image at 7:15. Madison became my home town in 1951. It has come a long way since 1945, when the "equality" suggested in this film was little more than a myth. Although I no longer live there, I am fond of my home town, and am sure that it is dramatically more egalitarian than it was when this film was made.

My source was a study done at Hanover College, Hanover, Indiana, which is also in Jefferson County, Indiana, as is Madison. sorry for run on sentence.
