I’ve never pulled the trigger on one of these lead weight scameras, but you really nailed that panning shot of the police car! The only waist level 35mm viewfinder I’ve used was on the Yashica T4 Super Scope, but I just sold that one. Definitely like the disposable camera esthetic of your images.

Hats of to you for using the Olympia, I never thought I'd ever see anyone using a Ouyama pretend SLR range camera. Look out for the rest of the range... Canomatic,Nokina,Tashika and many others. They all look similar except the names. That weight that gives it a slight feel of quality is a lump of lead in the base... which could make it worth more as scrap than a camera. Cop car photo looks awsome.

These old plastic cameras were took good pics. In 1993 I was studying music in Vienna for three months with a semester abroad program from Santa Monica College. I took a three day weekend trip to Italy with some of my mates. But forgot my nikon f2. So in Rome I payed $100 for the cheeper camera I could afford just to get some memories. I only shot 36 pics and gave them to my mates. The camera, I gave to my sister for her trip to Egypt. Oh yes, the polular fake slr cameras ;-) Here in Germany there were given away as a "gift" at some sales events, here known as "coffee rides" (or in german, "Kaffeefahrten"). It was always the same: "Hey, come and get a ride to a nice place, you get coffee and a nice camera... ah, and you have to see our 5-hours sales show of overpriced massage chairs" ;-) The cameras were cheap fixed-focus cameras with an SLR-style look. The weight comes from extra metal-pieces inside the camera to make it feel more valuable. There were more of this notorious cameras here in Germany with names like "Canomatic", "Nippon" and "Odette 7000". The shot of the police car is great. It proofs that with the eight person behind the camera you can get great photos, even with these cameras ;-)
