I would get the Genesis USB one, the mode button is important for me because it would work as a select button which the saturn ones dont have, yes I could map a shoulder button as select but I would loose a punch or kick x3 in SF EX which is unacceptable for me

Saturn pads stand the test of time. The the JP version, the Nights 3D pad and the Hori SS arcade sticks... All of mine still play PERFECTLY. I'm so glad I can finally get the skeleton grey pads (the consoles are so expensive now). SNES pads are good, but nothing beats the Saturn pad for fighting and shmup games save the Astro City or Hori SS sticks. Their D-pads leave Nintendo's in the dust. I'm definitely getting these for PC and Saturn.

The 8 button version has literally 1ms latency on MiSTer with 1000 usb polling script. Simply amazing controllers ESPECIALLY for the price.

But my older cousin who I looked up to convinced me to get a PS2 instead, so that's what I went with. x.x;; I was a kid with no individualism yet xD Getting the PS2 was a bad choice for me really, because I'm a huge Sonic fan. I essentially was forced to wait until 2004 to see a new Sonic game come out, while people with a Dreamcast were getting their minds blown in 1999 with Sonic Adventure.

I am actually excited for all of these Retro-bit controllers. I've never been a fan of Retro-bit in general, but these controllers look legit. If they feel as good as the originals and work just as well, I'm gonna have to load up on them.

They nailed it with these. The n64 controller is sweet too. 2019 Retro-bit has upped their game 1000% on the quality of controllers they produce. Ive been talking with them for a long while about these, they knew if they messed up the Sega license fans would riot lol.

I've got a Retro-Bit Genesis controller, and it does not feel bad but on the D-pad you could activates opposite directions at once, which you are not supposed to. Have they fixed this in newer revisions?

These new controllers are great! The. Best part is, these will ruin the eBay scalpers who sell the original saturn usb "SLS controllers" for 100-200$ each. The exact same way the New Brawlers funtastic N64 pads, stop scalpers from auctioning off old N64 Hori Pads for 200$ a pop.

That's just a collectible becoming rare with time, but not losing any collectors, so the price rises. Literally the 2nd day I've used the controller and the down button for the d-pad is already broken. The bottom of the plastic cross buckle snapped apart, but I'm still not sure if it was me, the quality of the plastic, or it was a bad batch. Someone else on another comment mentions they had the same problem.

Definitely getting the Bluetooth MD pad and maybe a wired pad but I really hope the Saturn Bluetooth pad works on ps3 and ps4

Look like high quality. I have some original and USB saturn pads and they are one of the best 2D pads for sure. Another contender, which I picked up recently, is the SNK Neo Geo Pads for PS2/PS3. They are based on the Neo Geo CD pad, and japan only released. Incredibly fluid dpad that is like a hybrid between short thumbstick, arcade joystick with micro switches and a standard Dpad. Theres no rough stops when sliding, its all very smooth and fluid. I found it get better precision, less thumb grinding and fatigue for 2D fighters that use sliding types of moves. For games like MK and double tapping motions to run, I still find the saturn pads superior but I may need to adjust. The SNK controllers are around 90 bucks though so they are an expensive tool for the arsenal but well worth it. If they would add rapid fire features on these controllers I would have purchased one immediately. Thats the one thing I wish my saturn pads had. As it is now I have to set rapid on the emulators themselves, if the emulator even supports the feature or use a stiffer Ascii pad. Great review.

I went into a retro gaming store - was asking the owner if he had a mint MegaDrive controller (3 button) - said no, but then he handed me a Saturn Pad. - wow - I still love the MD controller - always will, but that Saturn pad is quality - I guess Sega had to push it up a notch for their premium console. - I have been holding out buying a Switch because I want an authentic experience. - did you buy this? - I am considering an M30, but wireless is never flawless. Laser Bit is making MD-to-USB adapters - so I could use a genuine MD pad on switch, - but its pre-order. - I think this is the next best thing.

The Saturn USB looks so good, want that bad. That would be great in a lot of platformers from the Genesis to the PS era. Heck, lots of games today would make great use of that like Freedom Planet, Shovel Knight, nevermind the Genesis collection and so on.

Are the d-pads exactly the same on the Genesis and the Saturn usb controller? I love the feel of the old Genesis 6-button version but the Saturn controller looks like it would fit in my hands better.

Because I bought my Saturn used (a model 2), so I cannot be 100% sure where the pad came from, however, it has the Sega branding (it says Sega Saturn, with the "planet" on top). To me clicky buttons are better, they're more responsive.

Personally I don't see how anyone could prefer the Genesis controllers to the Saturn controller. They took the Genesis 6-Button arcade pads and made them bigger and perfected the buttons/D-Pad. The clicky shoulder buttons aren't great though as they feel unresponsive without tactile feedback.

@@shattered-reflection8045 Exactly, the Saturn pad is just a perfected Mega Drive pad, it's one of the best digital controller ever made. Speaking of the Mega Drive, the iconic pad for it it's the big 3 button "croissant shaped" one, they should have re-made that one. Other than iconic, it's also more ergonomically shaped, and 6 buttons Mega Drive games aren't that many anyway.

Awesome video. These look great! Hopefully they are worth the wait. They were slated for November, then February, now March or maybe April, no one really knows XD. And it seems sketchy that a few of them went up on Amazon for all of a few hours, only to be taken down. Definitely a lot of poor management going on here. But, I think they will get their act together. Everyone’s impressions are so good that these will be impossible to pass up! I’m also hoping against hope we’ll get a Saturn arcade stick or a ten dollar Master System controller with a pause button.

I was thinking of picking up either this Saturn USB controller or their Genesis 8-button USB controller for use on PC (for RetroArch) and possibly MiSTer (man that system looks cool and I'm strongly considering buying one). If you had to pick one which do you think is better between Retrobit's Genesis USB and the Saturn USB? I'd like to use them for playing beat 'em up arcade games as well as Saturn, Genesis, and PC Engine games at least. Probably the occasional rounds of Street Fighter too. And if I end up getting a MiSTer, for NES and SNES also. Do either of these controllers work well for SNES games also? Or do you think an SNES controller clone is a must for SNES games on MiSTer?

I have one thing to say actually about the pads now having them for almost 3 months ... and this is my experience everybody has a lot of different opinions since these came out ... mostly an 8 out of 10 in quality kind of feedback... anywho The usb version of the Saturn model 2s from retro bit - on flipping point ! For $27 you get better versions of these retrobit ones then the ones that came out in the mid 2000s about 15 years ago. They do not commit to one usb slot. The d pad is very much to my liking , you gotta break in the pad and buttons but all and all! This was the knock out peripheral of the two versions of the controllers Now the standard Saturn model 2 pads from retrobit.... I’m just a little disappointed . Just a tad! Just like the usb pad they almost feel identical ( which would make sense , same companies behind both versions ) the d pad is solid a near perfect rotation ( like as mentioned for the usb pad , need some breaking in and usage ) the buttons too , on point but need breaking in When I use it on my real Saturn , absolutely I like it way more then a used 20 year old pad. The plug doesn’t go all the way into the Saturn tho. So it always feels like at any given point the plug will slip out of the Saturn controller ports on the console or the plug will break within the keystone of the controller port to the Saturn. Worst off if you use the Saturn standard model 2 retro pads on adapters like the total control 3 / innovation adapters for the Dreamcast or other adapters for other consoles ( like my custom ps1/ps2 adapter ) the buttons always misconfigure mapping , fall out of the adapter due to the oddly sized plug , it’s a really nice quality built product but they fucked up on the plug and how it rests in Saturn keystones. I hope retrobit either make a new revision that the plug sinks more the keystone and gives it a tight secure *click* inside of Saturn keystones / don’t fall out of the keystones ( controller ports ) But to give it a surprising defense most people complain about the L and R buttons on both versions not having the clicky feeling. It’s true it doesn’t ! But! It is just as responsive , works proficiency! So don’t be scare of gettin a controller because of the triggers , be wearing of the plug / plug resting in keystones. Only use the standard model 2 retrobit controllers on a real Saturn souley if you can. You will be VERY DISAPPOINTED if you attempt to use it for otherwise
