This thing is a slap in the face to the legacy of the Neo Geo. For $116 I'd expect much more than this, and no internal battery pretty much kills any potential this thing has as a portable device, which would be more forgivable if it at least came with all you'd need to play it on your TV, but it doesn't. Easy pass.

Chris Johnson Thats just how Neo Geo games are. Its really apparent in emulation due to frameskipping. Neo Geo was only capable of 1 bit transparencies so they usually used tricks like this flicker to make things appear transparent. More of a blinking on off effect to make it seem transparent.

Definitely a missed opportunity. Really seems pointless with all the snk games available for dl on xbox uno. Hell, the ps2 snk collection almost covers it. To make it worthwhile at $100 it should have came with 2 controllers as snk is not a name to the majority of people. The handheld aspect is pretty much a joke. Too bad I was looking forward to it until I saw it.

mistakrook cpt basically you need a rewired SD adapter. I bought one with a kit. I think it was called Rocket cable. Then you get the custom firmware files and flash them over. It's really cool because it fixes the aspect ratio issues and you get UniBios and other emulators.

It's inexcusable that there's no internal rechargeable battery, especially when the size of this mini console would've easily allowed for it. That's a deal breaking shortcoming that's going to make a lot of consumers pass. My GPD XD portable's clam shell design is only a fraction of this unit's size and thickness but it still has an excellent internal rechargeable battery that gives you 8 to 10 hours of play on its 5" screen and it goes with me everywhere, best retro portable I've ever played and I already have most of these NeoGeo games on it anyway. Those Metal Slug games are the absolute best, and I never get tired of playing them. But I won't be playing them on this thing.

You wont regret it, I got mine in from Japan a couple days ago. Customs took a while but it was worth the wait. There is a lot of hate in this comment section but this thing is a lot fun. I happen to love the styling too, very similar to classic MVS Neo Geo cabinets in Japan.

I was going to preorder it but it sucks that both versions of the Neo Geo mini use AVS versions from the home consoles, not MVS from the original arcade cabinets so I can insert as many continues as much as I want just like I did from Arcade Archives for the home consoles on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC

Yeah if it had a real arcade stick, and a built in rechargable battery, or came with a cable for the tv, or even just one controller, then itd be worth it. But for what you get here, this is worth about $50, not $130

Hdmi but the mini uses a mini hdmi port so you have to have an adapter or a cable that has nornal hdmi on one end and mini on the other.

Is the emulation better then mame atleast. I notice with mame on my pi that i get that jump before a ledge lag, for metal slug for example. is that present on this unit, on your tv or on it? It pisses me off. I usally just use FBA with accuracy mode. IDK if it was taking out or something being buggy, havn't updated so idk?it works for me. My pi3 needs to be overclocked quite a bit to be close to perfect, it only stutter a few times at the boss but it doesn't interfere with gameplay.. Works well on pc.

I’m on the fence, I really enjoy SNK titles all the way back to Vangaurd, but being it’s impossible to get the controllers due to severe gouging by scalpers. Hopefully when the international version releases, they’ll make the controllers a little easier to purchase but I doubt it. ***Great review!

Why do I like NeoGeo mini? -I like small stuffs. It's my life -Mini portable console where you can bring anywhere -HDMI supported -Games that you should have fun playing it, no need to be serious on winning. Since some people argue how hard to play on it. -A really beautiful design worth of having it on your table Disadvantages? -Price is quite expensive, doesn't include controller in the box itself -No battery life. You'll need current supply while playing -The different games (a few) they add on Jap and International Now for me, overall, it's worth it. Despite the disadvantages given, the console itself is fun to have, to go and play those legend games. I don't wanna hear anyone saying "you can play those on emulators or other console" ☝🏻 Nope, sure you can. Do you actually bring your console everywhere you go? And where's the fun playing it on emulators? Its more fun playing it on its original play style, that's on arcade. You don't bring your big ass arcade everywhere either 😜 I'm sure one day y'all sure to buying it at least when someone sell it online with lower price. Don't judge too much, it'll be a shame once you lovin it

NO! Unless ur A hardcore NG fan, just get a damn Rasberry Pi! If u don’t know what that is; google it, then go to Craig’s list and find a pi, that the seller will customize just for you. About $120-$220 depending on gigs or tigs. U can get the complete video game library up to the PS3/wii era for $120....$220 will get u up to PS4/XBONE/WiiU ( yes wiiU. It has badass library) U can even go further up to $300, and get sum modern titles and movies as well. Pretty good deal...idky I still buy PS4 & Switch Games...just for exclusives I guess

It's cute, especially with the colored buttons (not sure why the US version's buttons have to be gray), but I don't really have the space for it, and I've got a ton of NeoGeo games on my Switch, so I'm passing on it. The fact that you have to apply the sticker to the control panel instead of SNK using a tampograph process (for $100 they should've done that) is another mark against it. There's going to be so many crooked decals on the secondary market. I understand the marquee being a decal since you can customize it, but relying on blind bag distribution for those things is just evil. For $100 it should come with all the hookups. Also why are they using a mini HDMI port? There's plenty of room for a full-sized HDMI port on this thing. Nintendo included everything you need to hook their mini consoles to a TV and power it, and they used a full-sized HDMI port. Hell even the Raspberry Pi includes the full-sized port.
