Indian Woman Invites Me to Eat in Her Home

While drinking chai in Pune a friendly Indian woman invites me to her home where she offers to cook a traditional Maharashtra dish. There I meat her sons, daughter in law and husband who I join to in the living room to eat this home cooked Indian food. This must have been one of the most traditional displays of hospitality in Indian only reserved for special occasions.

@@onkarwagh7 I always wanted to. I have a huge respect for Maharashtra and Shivaji Maharaj. Not many people know that in the 18th century Maratha army under Peshwas came to Najibabad which is on the border of Uttarakhand, just 48 km away from Haridwar. Marathas conquered najibabad and Najib ad-dawlah died of heart attack when Maratha army surrounded his town. He was the person who joined his forces with Ahmad shah abdali of Afghanistan and attacked Delhi. Killed many Hindus. So when i read about this i get goosebumps that Marathas came all the way from Pune, Maharashtra with their huge army to the North on the border of Uttarakhand. It was not a common feet. People only know that Marathas got defeated in third battle of Panipat but what they don't know that if Marathas didn't come to fight then Ahmed shah abdali wud had completely destroyed Northern India. It was bcoz of the damage caused by Maratha army that Ahmad Shah Abdali had to turn back fast after looting delhi. Another thing is that many local muslim rulers like Najib ad-dawlah helped Ahmad shah but no local Hindu ruler helped Marathas even the sikh rulers refused. Still Marathas gave a good fight but they were not properly well equipped or used to fight in the harsh winters of North India they got defeated. Another reason was that thousands of pilgrims from Maharashtra came with Maratha army to visit the holy city of Haridwar. So Maratha army also had to feed them. So they were short of their supplies too. Those pilgrims also became a liability to them. Ahmad shah abdali waited for many days coz he wanted to drain the supplies of Marathas and also the winter was about to come.

There is a touch of ' human element ' in every frame.The great hosts made made the guest feel comfortable, welcome and happy. Both the guest and the hosts are really great. I truly felt that India is a great country with diversified cultures. No doubt the culture of Maharashtra is a rich blend of traditional customs, warm hospitality and delicious cuisine. As we know, hospitality starts with people and it has the ability to bring people together, regardless of their diversified cultures or backgrounds. As a proud Indian, I truly opine that Maharashtra has to be highly respected because it is a great land of famous saints, social reformers , freedom fighters, women writers, and other famous persons such as Savitribai Phule, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Kamala Devi Chattopadhyaya, Anna Hazare, Bal Thackeray, Lata Mangeshkar, Veer savarkar, Mahadev Govinda Ranade, Madanlal Dhingra, Chapekar Brothers ( Damodar and Balakrishna) , Y.B. Chavan, et al. In the end , I can not draw to a close without referring to one of India's greatest leaders, Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who founded the Maratha Empire in the 17th century. Jai Hind! I truly love and respect my country, India .
